I got a click today for $19.22 on the same site.

If you have an Adwords account you can figure out the high paying ads.

25- $1 clicks still equals $25 and the $25 clicks are far and few between.

I wouldn't suggest to optimize for high paying keywords, the Big G doesn't feel it. It all balances out in the end.

I have had click values all over the place from a few cents to 1 buck +, but I think that if you see an arrow on your Ad unit where the visitor can see some more Ads, then I think it means that your page is Smart-priced and you are getting the minimum payments. But, there are various performance optimizations to explore such as accepting image or text Ads rather than just text. And there are various options now that could be used to maybe up the pay rate of your Ads such as screening out certain Ad networks (but there are around 8000 of them to examine).

Maybe by utilizing the latest features of Google Analytics, it may be possible to optimize your Adsense units for maximum revenue? Or you could split-test different Ad unit code.

Sometimes also your site gets hit with a lot of junk ads from bulk advertisers when your site doesn't have a specific niche like celebrity sites or there aren't a lot of advertisers on the niche. You can use the competitive ad filter to ban these sites and increase your CPC. Some places you can find a list. But if you are familiar with adsense, you will have a good idea of what the junk sites are. There's also a filter that you can use to block specific types of sites like ringtones.

This makes sense because the reader on the specific pages are more likely to convert for the advertiser.
