There should be an alternative, people cannot relay on just a few answers. I'm pretty sure there will be something else as a replacement, just not available for everyone, as I guess the email from Google Adsense got spammed a lot by unhappy people etc. That's not where it is for.
They should add a contact page in the management pannel at Google.Com/Adsense, without emailing but with a ticket, and if the answer time would be less than 3 days that would be great stuff. Eventually they could add some 'maybe this is what you're looking for' boxes to make sure not 99999 questions are asked over and over again.

Cos if majority of revenues come from their own Adwords ADs, why do have to stick on to Adsense then! Why just close support, why not whole adsense program!
