Thread: Boost Your AdSense CTR with Gray Text

  1. Boost Your AdSense CTR with Gray Text

    A few years ago, we switched our body text color from black to a dark gray. This resulted in a small but noticeable AdSense CTR improvement.

    When we rolled out our new site design earlier this year, we forgot that important lesson. As a result, we were experiencing low CTR (and low eCPM) and we didn't know why.

    Hellas noticed the difference and changed the body text color. Our CTR received that small but noticeable bump.

    Small stuff like this can make big differences in the long term.

  2. i thought colors mean nothing unless we integrate our text ads with the text contents.

    Colors can have major effects on CTR. For example, blue links get clicked more than links of any other color.

    If the body text is gray and the ad text is black, the human eye seems drawn to the darker ad text.

    So, what do you suggest Will?

    Usually I use this combination:

    google_color_border = "ffffff";
    google_color_bg = "ffffff";
    google_color_link = "0000ff";
    google_color_text = "0000ff";
    google_color_url = "0000ff";

    I'm using this for my main AdSense block right now:
    google_color_border = "FFFFFF";
    google_color_bg = "FFFFFF";
    google_color_link = "0000FF";
    google_color_text = "000000";
    google_color_url = "000000";

    #333 or #666? Or even a lighter version? I'm lazy to go through TopBits' CSS.

    My bad, I meant:

    google_color_border = "ffffff";
    google_color_link = "0000ff";
    google_color_bg = "ffffff";
    google_color_text = "000000";
    google_color_url = "000000";

    It looks like TopBits uses #444 for the text color, which is a very dark gray.

    I will try it on a couple of my most popular sites. Every little bit helps.
