Lots of Traffic, But No Impressions

I bumped into a couple of threads on the web where AdSense members have been complaining about missing impressions for some sites in their AdSense accounts. These sites show zero impressions in the AdSense reports. This has been occurring since the middle of January.

I checked my AdSense account and I do indeed have a few sites that are getting traffic, yet the accounts no longer appear in the AdSense reporting.

The ads do appear correctly on the sites, the domains are registered in AdSense, the publisher ID is correct and the sites do not violate the TOS in any way.

Is anyone else seeing this issue?

    Has anyone identified a cause?

What is a good alternative to using AdSense?

That's scary. Trust is very important in a business relationship like this and verification is almost impossible. Worse, even if you could verify a problem theres really nothing you could do to convince Google that such a problem exists -- they won't even take your call.

Are you sure that paying ads are appearing, and not PSA's? Are you sure the traffic is from browsers with JavaScript enabled?

Frankly, I would not know if this was happening to me.

For most publishers, there is no good alternative to AdSense.

I'm talking about a cumulative count of several thousand unique visitors across several domains. I don't think they all have JavaScript disabled. I have a URL channel set up for each site so that I can see which sites are the best earners. Several sites no longer show up in the earnings report. No impressions. No clicks. Nada.

The ads are not public service ads. Check the wine site in my signature. Nothing has shown up in the reports for that site since December, yet people have bought gourmet gift baskets.

Users are clicking on affiliate links and buying things, so I know that the traffic is not all from spiders.

I wasn't aware of this issue either until I found other people asking about it in forums, including a Google forum.

How can I have 2400 vistors and no impressions? - AdSense Help

It is either a Google bug or some type of penalty. If it is a Google bug, I'm missing out on any click revenue.

That's really strange! Are you using the "Allowed Sites" feature? I'm just thinking maybe you didn't add the domains to the allowed sites as that would cause no impressions/click to be recorded.

I have always suspected that when it comes to AdWords and AdSense, certain things don't align. Imagine the money Google would make if they charged every AdWords user for one click they didn't get. Then imagine the same scenario occurring where they didn't pay AdSense users for one click that was made. We're talking a lot of money - and this could easily be covered up under any number of excuses.

It's like those companies that have been found to tack a few extra cents onto charges they make to your credit/debit card. It seems small, insignificant, and it gets overlooked - but they're raking in the cash in the long-run.

    agree and i experience it.
My previous Adsense account is Ban for the reason of Fraud Click (buy wrong wrong site) with USD 800 inside the account (two year saving, previously they don't have Western Union), i does complaint/appeal but nothing happen, so i question them abt the previous two year payment, they said, all payment is credited back to adword user .....
The problem is my Adword never received a single cent back from it (my mistake by place own ad in my own site).....

From that time onward, ADWORD is no no for me ...

I've been wondering about this for some time. I'm getting less impressions that I have "keyphrases used on search engines" in my stats.

I'm guessing that the tracking is setup like the house advantage in a casino. So when there is any "doubt" it goes in favor of the house.

Nope. "Allow any site to show ads for my account" is selected.

I can't explain this, but I'm not the only one experiencing it. If I didn't have URL channels set up, I wouldn't even know about it. If you are just letting all of your AdSense revenue collect in one pot, it might be a good idea to set up URL channels to see if you are not getting revenue from some sites.

I'm beginning to suspect that it has something to do with the newer ad slot AdSense code. All my sites using the old AdSense code format are working fine.

I think I will change all of the ad formats to the old style to see if that helps.

My overall impressions and clicks are WAY down thus far this month, but the traffic to most sites is steady or climbing. I don't think I have any sites that would even come close to violating G's TOS.

What is the percentage of browsers with JavaScript disabled? Read some estimates of between 10% to 15% of browsers are not JavaScript enabled.
