Thread: My website I hate the most makes me the most money

I started a few different websites, all of which I cared about at some point. After awhile I lost interest in really developing a specific one - and it has remained untouched for awhile now. Ironically enough, it is the site that is earning me the most clicks (which ends up being $1 a day, hah.) and the most traffic. If it's performing like this with no nudging, I can only imagine how it would perform with effort.

Have you ever purchased a website with little to no expectation, but still made more money from it than other websites with adsense?

I once purchased a website for $50 that sold a package of one hundred and fifty five adsense ready websites. At first, I was skeptical, but I was confident that I could make it work. I invested a little bit of effort into it - you know, passing the link around forums and such, and before I knew it I had produced over $500 in profit by selling the package for $25 each. I expanded the site by adding a nice ticket system and helped people out a bit.

I also recommended some hosting companies, and earned about $100 from that as well. Then I had the idea of getting a friend of mine to print up a bunch of flyers about the website and I was going to travel to Philly or NYC and hand them out. The unsuspecting people looking to make money online would visit the site and make a purchase! However, I never followed through with that.

Either way, I ended up getting bored with the site and I sold it for around $100. Luckily for me, the guy that bought it never changed the PayPal button and I am still earning cash from it!

Wow. Is that last part even legal, or is it just his unfortunate error? Interesting story.

It's all his doing. He never changed it - and all he needs to do is edit one file.

Ontopic: This has happened to me I remember when I started doing proxies I had an ugly proxy that was earning me 2 bucks daily on my first month and the proxy had an ugly name, ugly design poor SEO and I had spent no more than 1$ on promotion and I was like wow if I invest more time and money on my proxies I will earn big time and I started investing and creating quality proxies but the ugly proxy remained earning the most for several weeks until I had to close it

Yeah I have one of those sites. I dont know what to do with it. I'm actually scared if I touch anything on the site, like the change the title tags or template or anything, then it will stop making money. So I just dont touch anything, leave it be. Whatever it is it seem to work.

I think that must have happened to almost everyone of us. I guess the reason behind it is the site that we are least interested (or hate in your words) is the one in which we have put a lot of efforts already and is quite old and hence we get bored doing the same thing again and again. But it is only because of this, that they site earns money and other don't

So infact I would advice you if you are bored of one such site, it's ok if you stop working on it for a while but don't sell it. Instead apply ALL those strategies on other sites too and then when you get bored of those sites too return to this old site. This way you keep the wheel running

Not quite the same but I do have a site I set up in about an hour three years ago with a database I got free from somewhere - recipe related and something I have no interest in at all.

I haven't touched it since or got links for it (except a few free directories and poor quality link exchanges that happened to be available on dp the day I created the site) and don't intend to ever touch it again - but it has made well over $1,000 so far, still slowly increasing, and now makes $2 adsense a day and makes the occasional affiliate sale as well.

Probably the best hour I ever spent.

Interesting situation. If you don't like the site, maybe just don't do anything to it and collect your $1 a day. Put the revenue toward your other sites you do like.

You might consider adding an rss news or article feed related to the site's content on the home page to keep the content looking fresh.
