    Finding Wholesalers and Drop Shippers

Some webmasters make their money with CPM or CPC advertising. A few step up to CPA affiliate programs. An even smaller number step up to the greater challenge, and greater rewards, of sourcing products from wholesalers and selling them as web retailers.

One of the difficulties in becoming a web retailer is finding wholesalers to work with.

There are a couple of web sites which make this a lot easier. These are directories of wholesale companies, many of which will drop-ship products directly to the end-user.

The web sites are Salehoo and Alibaba.

If you're ready to step up to the next level of e-commerce, check them out!

This is actually something I seem to be venturing into at the moment. The problem I am finding with it is a lot of places what fairly big minimum orders.

It definitely has to be a niche which you love or you will never succeed in it. And of course it makes you money

I would suggest treading the dropshipping waters very carefully,
Having been involved in that industry for 15yrs I can tell you some really sad stories and most of them come from Alibaba, what we used to call Scammers Haven, also Salehoo have a similar reputation, sure all the sellers look good on paper with great references from previous buyers but 9/10 buyers are someway related to the seller

I myself came unstuck to the tune of 60k in one order but was fortunate enough to have recouped all of it via my bank, they reel you in with smaller orders making the buyer think damn these guys are legit, then whammo when you make a big order your $$$ are gone.

For anyone entering into this field I can only suggest the following from my own personal experiences,

    • Never deal with anyone whom requests Western Union Transfers
    • Never deal with anyone whom will not accept Paypal
    • Never deal with anyone whom requires 100% TT (Telegraphic Transfer) upfront
    • Always use Paypal,Amex,LOC( Letter Of Credit ) from a bank, Escrow Service
    • Always use someone like Fedex so everything can be tracked 24/7 throughout the process of shipment
    • When delivered by the likes of Fedex Couriers, always open your package in front of them before they go, if the courier can verify the content is not what is on the shipping orders they will immediately take action and back you up as a witness
    • Finally do your research, ask for a sample order, create a great relationship & if you can afford it financially, visit the vendor yourself to inspect the stock.
    • In closing, there are some very good legitimate dealers through Alibaba, as an example if you were looking for a Nokia 8800 Mobile Phone, try searching alibaba with { Paypal,Nokia 8800 } you get the idea!

As previously stated I have only replied on my own experiences with the aim of giving fellow members the heads up prior to entering this arena of business.

I have considered doing this before on ebay but came to the conclusion that for it to work I would have to rely on a complete stranger for the success of my business and customer loyalty. In the end I decided not to and ventured into projects where I am more in control.

The other issue to consider is that given the current worldwide economic mess, scammers start coming out of the woodwork. Sometimes legitimate companies are compelled to scam customers just to survive.

I own an online store that stocks inventory and ships products. Whether you are drop shipping or stocking inventory, sales are falling off a cliff. It appears to me that American consumers are also concerned about scams and have moved their purchasing to big online stores, such as Amazon. While sales are down with my store, sales are doing better than ever with my Amazon affiliate sites and Amazon is reporting record sales revenues

I just read an article that claims that 300,000 Chinese companies have already gone out of business. Be very careful when dealing with Chinese suppliers.

You must be referring to 1901gt or slaydragon; I only work for beer.

Actually, this could work out quite well for me. I am hoping to start some related projects within the next 1-3 months.

I have thought about dropshipping a lot but I feel that there are too many factors that aren't in my control like shipping and stock. These could translate to angry customers.

One of the supplier I purchase a lot off of will dropship for me but as the auction site I sell at doesn't allow this I have stuck with stocking the products.
