Default How to cloack your affiliate link?

Sorry that yesterday i make some thread. But you're guys think it's not important. So, i will try to make important thread right now.

In this thread i wanna make tutorial about how to make cloacked affiliate link. Cloacked affiliate link is the good strategy to promote your affiliate link. It's because, people already skeptic with affiliate link, so we need to hide it.

How to cloack it?
1. of course you need to know, what is your affiliate link. Copy it.
2. go to cloack url service. In this post, i will make example : http://tinyurl.com/
3. paste your affiliate link under :

Quote:
Enter a long URL to make tiny:
and then click make tiny url

4. Then you will get cloacked link to be spreaded and promoted.

Example of cloacked link, using link of WMP :
http://tinyurl.com/r23cjh

Isn't affiliate URL cloaking kind of, I dunno, sketch? It seems like you should be honest when promoting products, and cloaking kind of gets in the way of that.

Being honest is good advice. But we're know that some people nowadays is enter the product site via direct link if their find you're using pure affiliate link.

Personally, I'd rather see an affiliate link than a tinyurl link and I'm more likely to click the first. I mean, if I see an affiliate link, at least I know what site I'm going to, but on tinyurl it could send me to any site where I could get viruses or something like that.

I personally feel that if you're going to cloak your affiliate link, you should use a system where it's:

www.yourdomain.com/recommends/affiliate

(affiliate = the name of the affiliate program).

You can do this by checking out this link:

Besides www.tinyurl.com, you could also use the Redirection plugin - http://urbangiraffe.com/plugins/redirection/

It can redirect any url from your blog to another website, or another page from your blog.

Using the Redirection plugin I redirected http://www.glosonblog.com/twitter to my twitter account.

Similarly, you can create a redirection to an affiliate site from your blog. It gives your blog a better impression.

I prefer Simon's format, www.yourdomain.com/recommends/affiliate

It makes the affiliate link look professional.

Redirection? I ever use it because i'm reselling some local product. And to follow that strategy, it's mean that we need extra budget to buy a domain and hosting right?

Note :
Sorry, i find the habit of people in every country is different. It's so interesting when mostly of you prefer to use pure aff.link. It's because, in my local country, when people seeing affiliate link, they will skeptic and say something negative just like : "Hey don't click it, it's affiliate link" or "i think he want to make profit with affiliate link, don't click it."

Rest assure, I had to face problem like these even outised of your 'local' country, so we can say that the world in general is being sceptic about affiliate and referral links.

Yes, and that's mean you prefer to cloack it?

And about using pure link, i have my own opinion. It's OK to use pure affiliate link, but please be honest in your sales offer post. Try to write the advantage of the product and put some persuasive testimonial. And in the end of post, you can write sentences which explain that you're using affiliate link, and request people like this (for example) :

If you're interested in this product, and if you're appreciated my post, please join from my affiliate link. Thanks in advance.

Ah, I prefer use a bit of javascript code into href tag than cloaking an url by url-shortener service, redirection, or whatever.

People will see it just as like as a plain link, but the result will bring these peoples to your affiliate link. Such really simple.

Here the sample code :

Code:
<a href="http://www.ExampleAffiliateSite.com/" onclick="this.href='http://www.ExampleAffiliateSite.com/?refid=12345/'">Anchor Text</a>
That's it!
