How many of you here are doing Affiliate Marketing?

    Hi,

If you go to forums such as Digital Point and Warrior Forums you will find countless people doing affiliate marketing and the affiliate marketing sections there are always active however it doesn't seem to be that active on this forum.

So, I wonder how many of you are actually doing affiliate marketing and if you are how well are you doing and if you are not how come?

I've been messing around with affiliate marketing for a while. I have never really been to successful. I've seen inconsistent returns of 50%, but average about -10%.

I think the reason I haven't been able to push myself profitable is a lack of funds. I can't afford to drop $1000 to find profitable campaigns at this point. I have been sticking away money to get up to that point, but just not there yet.

You don't need to use PPC to promote affiliate campaigns but you can. You just need a way to get traffic. You can get traffic off Google if your squeeze page has good content. Take for example this site www.bettafishcenter.com it ranks on google for "betta fish care" apparently that site make about $1,000 a month according to this podcast with the owner. The sale also doesn't happen right away its done threw email with aweber. \

I'm using Amazon and a few other affiliate programs. Not much luck yet, but I suspect things will pick up once my traffic does.

I've been doing a little bit of affiliate marketing, but I have about a dozen new affiliate sites in development.

I am pretty excited about finally having the time to add affiliate marketing to my bag of tricks.

    My story might be relevant.

About a year ago I decided I was over-reliant on adsense and started learning affiliate marketing. Now I make 2/3 of my income from affiliates.

On pages where the main adsense ads were for 'real' shops / businesses / products I now advertise them directly eg on a travel page where the ads were always for hotels, I took off the adsense and added direct hotel affiliate ads.

On average each drop of $1 on adsense makes about $5 on affiliates. Not just on travel sites, also on sports, gardening...as long as there are real products to sell, so a great success.

I don't know anything about game sites, proxy sites, make money online sites etc so not sure how well they would work or what product could be sold. I also don't have anything that you'd call a squeeze page, landing page etc.

Note: affiliate schemes need to be tested and monitored the same as anything else - there are plenty of well known companies that fail to record a lot of transactions - so often I thought I had poor results, but then changed scheme and suddenly had great results.

I don't do any PPC, just rely on search engine traffic, so ROI is hard to assess. It did take me a long time to work out product feeds etc (I'm not very techie) and I had to learn a lot about mysql / php etc.

So I would highly recommend affiliate marketing if your site is suitable, both because it is much better at generating income, and because you are no longer at great risk from an adsense ban. The change is the best thing I ever did, but it's a lot more work to implement and stay on top of than simply adding adsense ads!

I don't talk about my overall earnings but I do work from home and rely on my online earnings as my income. And I do work a lot of hours

I actually have been trying Neverblue Since Jan 1st 2009, I have been running it on my sites since then and had 1 million impressions and 21,936 clicks on various offers like dating offers, email submits, downloads etc. No of it really converts. Made $110 since Jan off 150 conversions. But I suppose really it has to do with the traffic source. (Proxy sites). I think if I put it on normal content sites getting healthy traffic I would see much better results, maby even better then adsense.

Some of those offers can pay off quite good. Like a dating offer can pay up to $3 per lead and all they to do it sign up to the site.

Well, I have managed to generate US$141 revenue from affiliate marketing but in a span of 6 months. What makes me happy is that I was able to generate revenue purely from search engine traffic. I am working towards cutting short the time period.
