I think the better solution is to start aggressively selling banner ads across your network. Over time you can replace the ads with affliates.

If an advertiser or merchant feels that there is a political slant to your web site, you may be rejected.

Some merchants are just looking for a few sites that can drive lots of traffic. I've been doing affiliate marketing for more than five years and I still sometimes get rejected.

    Hi,

Political slant I doubt that. But your second thought might be right. I do believe one rejected me for lack of traffic.

Good new from the time of post 1 accepted me but still more rejections.

Your traffic to that site is not bad. You are right at an Alexa 200,000 overall score and 75,000 for USA traffic.

Once after being rejected I sent a message to the affiliate manager asking why I was rejected. He responded with a message that told me to get the Alexa score below 200,000 and then re-apply. Since then, I have always looked at 200k as being a threshold to get past before I view the traffic as adequate.

    Hi,

Yeah, gotta be I should of applied when the site was higher I have small push about a year and a half ago. Site was PR6 and Alexa was a lot higher. I got a backlink from the Wall Street Journal hits were really good for about a week Pr only lasted one update but I had no idea how to run a site and still don't. But I am learning. maybe I'll get lucky and post something they like again.

I wonder how much money I lost? At that time I had NO ads on the site not even google.

My thought was to find one good sponsor like, Coke or Pepsi but that never materialized. Every time I got a rejection letter I thought yes one step closer to a deal. The sales person in me. The only reason you heard a NO was you did not supply enough information to help the person make a final decision.

I have not given up on that just slowed down.

    Oh well rant over.
