Thread: Article Mill

  1. Article Mill

Naweed has put together a truly excellent article spinning script for NetBuilders.

The script, Article Mill creates unique articles from spin-ready article input.

You can upload your source or paste it directly into the text box. You can receive the output on screen, or as a zip archive containing individual articles.

The format for spin-ready article looks like this:
    Code:
    The {rain|snow} in {Spain|France|Portugal} falls {mainly|mostly} on the {plain|mountains}.
ArticleMille also does a lot more than your usual article spinner.

The script can convert contractions to separate words:
    Code:
    isn't that, is that not
    isn't, is not
    won't,will not
    don't, do not
    doesn't, does not
    aren't, are not
    wasn't, was not
    weren't, were not
The script can convert hyphenated, two part and compound words to alternatives:
    Code:
    check box,checkbox
    e-mail,email
    fig-leaf,fig leaf
    pot-belly,pot belly
    pigeon-hole,pigeonhole
    add-on,addon
    get-together, get together
The script can include common replacements:
    Code:
    use,utilize
    like,prefer
    build,make
    bake,cook
amazing, incredible, unbelievable, improbable, fabulous, wonderful, fantastic, astonishing, astounding, extraordinary
anger, enrage, infuriate, arouse, nettle, exasperate
    found, discovered, uncovered
The script can convert numbers to words:
    Code:
    . 0,. Zero
    0,zero
    . 1,. One
    1,one
    . 2,. Two
    2,two
    . 3,. Three
    3,three
    . 4,. Four
    4,four
    . 5,. Five
    5,five
    . 6,. Six
    6,six
    . 7,. Seven
    7,seven
    . 8,. Eight
    8,eight
    . 9,. Nine
    9,nine
The script can convert words in your article to alternate spellings:
    Code:
    gray,grey
    advisable,adviseable
    a capella,acapella
    ayatollah,ayatolla
The script can convert words to numbers:
    Code:
    zero, 0
    one, 1
    two, 2
    three, 3
    four, 4
    five, 5
    six, 6
    seven, 7
    eight, 8
    nine, 9
The script can even convert your article to British English:
    Code:
    utilize,utilise
    color,colour
    honor,honour
    realize,realise
    defense,defence
    aluminum,aluminium
    organization,organisation
    offense,offence
    theater,theatre
    mustache,moustache
    tire,tyre
    analyze,analyse
The script can also enable start-of-sentence capitalization (although this will not work correctly with abbreviations like i.e. and viz.)

You may be realizing by now that the script can create articles that are somewhat unique from even non-spin-ready content.

I predict that we will be spending a lot of time improving our word lists, and that the result will be a tool which is constantly becoming more powerful.

Naweed and I are looking forward to your suggestions for additional features, your suggestions for additional replacement pairs, and your reports of any bugs which me might have missed.

Thank you very much Naweed! That script looks insanely useful.

Slight suggestion - is there any way to enable line breaks / paragraphs?

    Cheers!

    Thank you, everyone!

I agree with Will that this script will become more powerful as we constantly improve our wordlists.

Thanks, Charles! I think what you have suggested is implemented already. Line breaks/paragraphs in the input text are retained, and even the HTML tags should stay intact.

Whoops, sorry. It's only when you tick "Enable start-of-sentence capitalization (Will NOT work correctly with abbreviations like i.e. and viz.)"

I have implemented a fix for this; newlines should be retained when "Enable start-of-sentence capitalization" is checked.

Mostly it is useful if you use article marketing to promote your sites.

With article spinning, you can create one article and use this tool to create an almost unlimited number of unique articles from it.
