Obviously the moderator has decided to keep those threads active, so be it.

Anymore reply on this thread will only increase the heat. IMHO.

Though I don't agree with you, Digital, I get the feeling there is a little more to the change of heart about chain threads, as opposed to your contributions to them just a few weeks ago, than just feeling that they have run their course.

That's just a feeling though and I apologize up front if I am plainly wrong.

The chain threads may seem pointless, but they serve several purposes, not the least of which is simple social interaction which is pretty much free from contrasting opinions, abrasions, and bruised feelings, of which the present thread is not.

I came to meet you, Badmash, Marry, and others who were taking part in these threads after an absence from the board of several months. These threads are completely casual, and yes pointless, but provide a way for others to rub elbows and get acquainted in an atmosphere where conflicts are likely not to happen. I'm just not seeing that as a bad thing and I think that threads which bring people together, even for the most trivial of reasons, cannot be classified as something bad.

Just my opinion though.

I don't see those as spam, those are "legit" threads, even though I never take part in them (1 or 2 exceptions might apply, sometimes for administrative purposes).

Well, if you feel they are bad threads then go and delete them ! Why waiting ?

I won't delete any legit general chat threads, only those that are obvious blatant spam.

There is no gain in closing those threads or removing them...

If you close that thread,one more will arise.

A GC is to relax..no matter what is posted unless its illegal or porn.

If the admin don't care about members spamming the GC for increasing their post count,then there is no point in arguing in this thread....

New Chain Threads should not be allowed anymore. What NB has right now is enough. We already have some nice Chain Threads where a great number of NB members are getting interest. I request the Forum Leaders not to close/delete these existing threads & not to accept new Chain Threads.
