Well, IMHO it should be done as it really looks very weird.
There's no need to have Search Forums, the Search box and advanced search in 3 different "lines".

Another way of fixing it was by creating a cool banner to put there.

Should be much better now. I removed the welcome thing, round corners and cut the unnecessary space in the header to move everything up. I removed the "Search Forums" title for the search box (it's obvious this is a search box) and moved "Advanced Search" closer to the box.

The ad which currently displays just text is usually meant to display a graphical 468x60 banner so space is left for that. The reason it's just a single text ad now is because the other ads haven't been imported from the old system yet.

Get to .body_wrapper and change padding from 10px to 0px , that'll help a bit a it'll finally look "good".

I did that let me know if it looks ok.

P.S. What's with the Like plugin? I don't see how this hugely differs to the Thanks plugin.

I think that came with vB4. The difference may not be huge, but I suppose you wont always like what you're thankful for or be thankful for everything you like.

If it turns out to be an unpopular, annoying or just unused feature though we can just disable it.

Whats with the NB chat?? I cant login there... and the link to it is not placed properly on the navigation tab at the top..

and the site is not centered properly in my browser, FireFox 3.6.15 @ Win XP

Fixed the chat link. This was due to the left margin I added yesterday when I was fixing up the header in Opera.

About it not being centered I think this is simply a resolution/window-size issue. It will be fine up to a point, but if you resize to less than that it will progressively display worse. It supports a standard 1024x768 resolution. No guarantees below that.

As for the chat login not working, ideally it should put you straight into the chat room, but for some reason we're yet to figure out, the integration isn't working.

My screen resolution is in fact 1024x768...

My bad, it should be fine now.

Chat works now!

It is full screen, but there's a nice "back to forums" link with NB logo on top so you can always easily go back to forums or open it in another tab.
