Why did Webmaster Peers decide to merge?

I thought it is was a really good forum by itself. I am surprised to see this happened. I thought they had a good amount of activity. I am impressed with the merge and not upset, but it seemed as though it may not be a good decision.

Merging enables you to share the administrative efforts and cost across a larger group of members. Running a large forum is only slightly more work than running a smaller forum, and it's only a bit more than half as much work as running two small forums.

In addition, merging gives everyone more threads to read and more people to talk to. WMP had good design and content development topics. NB had an advantage in promotion and monetization topics. Together, we can more easily provide a full-range of webmaster topics.

The NB that you see today is a merger of NB, WauShares, TecDNA, SEONoise, WebMasterPeers, WebAdminChat, and a blog called Forum-Promotion.

At NB, we want to be the quality leader among webmaster forums -- but part of that requires a good size community to help build that quality.

Welcome to NB. I look forward to reading some great posts from you!

Wow, I am really surprised, this site has had that many mergers. I have my own forum, and it is not nearly as successful yet.

What are some of the benefits for previous owners though? Did you like buyout their sites? Or is it just an agreement?

Making a successful forum can be a real bear of a task.

I am about to start another one, and I am afraid.

Every deal is different, but I don't usually mind using cash to make deals work smoothly.

NB earned a fantastic $47.01 in gross revenue last month. This is far more of a "labor of love" than it is a responsible business model.

How come you are afraid? If you need help let me know. I would do it with you if you wanted to share or something. Just offering.

I am afraid because I am adding the forum to a site that already gets 100k unique visitors a day.

Plus, I'm trying a new piece of forum software -- AgoraForum.

This new forum could be a lot of work.
