You mean it isnt recording general chat comments in post count? Believe we'd talked that over and decided to do that on purpose way back when. Doesnt matter to me either way... we can make that count if folks prefer.
Now really, who is that anal they want post count to go up and up?
Keep it the way it is.
I see on forums where people do nothing but go into the introduction forum and just post stuff like "welcome aboard", and other inane posts.
Just to get their post count up high.
I agree with dawg. Why would the post count matter at all unless someone is trying to get over the hurdle for siggy links?
It probably does not really matter to GeeOne. I see a post count of over 1400. GeeOne, do you have a reason as to why you think it should be reactivated?
I don't know if we are still doing this, but both post counts and links were neutered by Will in the General Chat section.

Well IMO it should be counted, the simple reason member is putting effort & giving time for each and every post or thread.
And I don't think the members of webmaster forums are only interested for general chat topics, they will more posts in webmaster related activities rather then general chat.

If I remember correctly, the reasons for neutering General Chat were because there are a lot more nonsense posts in that section, plus this is a tech forum and that section is typically off-topic. General topic forums, blogs and web sites rarely rank well. The topics need to be focused.
Personally, I don't see where the post count matters for anything other than getting over the siggy link threshold.

Hi,
I'm with dawg on this one. Who cares about post count. Yes it takes time to write any post. The reward is the information you receive when you can help others, Not how many time you posted.
I think this commercial says it all.
