I like the idea of starting a Premium Zone...
Let's go further about it here:
- A member can pay a monthly 5$ or something, bulk for longer period.
- When he pays, he get's a star next to his name + access to a private part of the forum where great things are
- People will trust the person more maybe, as he has a 'Premium' rank...
- Only people who made a contribution to the forum already, or have at least 100 posts...
So no newbies etc...
This would mostly be to support NetBuilders and share some knowledge between the Premium Members...
SiteDeals.nl has something like that too.. and some great info is shared there!
Please tell if you pro or contra ;)
Premium member section should be great worth to us. I like the idea, but we should have something more special than just a star next to our name. Maybe this can wait, until we get more members
Yep... you're right :D
But maybe the diehards can start adding things already... so when there are new members, they might want to be 'Premium' faster and support NetBuilders faster
If we don't grow as a free community there's no way we'll ever grow as a paid one.
Did you notice the .org domain? :)
No Thx, I don't like Elites.
I pay $97 a month for a forum that is private and only private. The reason it has grown well is because it offers a tonne of content that is well worth the money. I don't think at NB we would be able to do that same.
Aaron Wall has a great paid forum at SEOBook. It's $99/mo and it's worth the price.
Right now, my goal is to make the public parts of this forum great. That's a big enough project that I don't really have time to build a private portion of the forum and make it even greater. It would divide my energies too much.
Expect some really cool additions to the public forum soon.
Also, have you looked at the Groups feature of vBulletin?
You don't even need me to create a premium section all of your own. :)
Alright, I understand it :D
Though I think it wasn't a worse idea...
And there are tons of commercial sites on .org's so :D
Yes, but I'm pretty sure this one has a reason behind it. ;)

I think the idea of a more personal section where members can speak about the different things they're doing to improve traffic, SEO etc is great, and if people like Will, Ash etc were prepared to spend some time mentoring the rest of us it would be worth paying for. However if Will and the top guys want to keep supporting the entire community publicly then I don't see what value I'd get from a premium membership.
Groups sound like a good idea, but can we make them private?
