I'm pretty happy with the current memberbase we have already. If we'd get closed, I wouldn't mind let's say. I prefer to only get new registrations from people who really want to get into NB. But ofcourse there have been some other good suggestions to not do this..

For the first post, any links could be tagged with the rel=nofollow attribute. Then the bot may think they did their job successfully and not post again. And a new member may not even notice or care.

I do understand that, but to prevent is better than to cure, right? If we would find a way to keep some spammers away, we might save your time!

True, but once again the post still needs to be removed & read. If we could save that time, we can use it to build sites, content & links right?

I was thinking about a plugin that would automate this task. Of course, admins need to avoid doing this kind of thing manually.

We are getting spammed silly. I spend so much time deleting posts that I am seldom writing posts any more.

Unfortunately, I believe that Shenron is correct regarding the effect of delaying sig links.

We've blocked the bots. We're being spammed by real people. We're using pretty much every vB anti-spam mod available.

I just deleted a large number of accounts and thousands of posts (this will make some threads strange to read). I probably made a mistake or two, but if so I will apologize.

I am going to continue with more cleanup, but I don't think this is ever going to get easier.

What about recruiting more people to the team to make it easier for you? Many hands make light work, no?

I admin at two forums, and the spam runs in cycles.
Why I love the new posts.
From there, see who is spamming and ban them there without having to go to their posts and threads.

Used to be scads of porn spam, but for the past few months, none.
Maybe the porn spammers quit wasting their time?

I think that a minimum of 15 posts is too high. Maybe five or ten is not bad solution?
