Thread: Sigature Link Limit & Post Link Limit

Hello,
What about introducing a signature link limit before let's say 15 posts? And also a limit of posting links before the user has 10 posts? The reason I'm suggesting this is because I see more and more people:

• posting, spamming the forum for their signature links
• posting, not using signature links but posting the links in their thread
• people offering services that just make 1 post to promote their service/product and never turn back

What's your opinion about this?

That will lead to 15 spamming posts before people get the right to have a sig link.

What about having to enter a CAPTCHA, in order to post your first x posts?

First post? I'm sure a genuine member could understand the measure.

Keep in mind though, the harder you make it to get new members, the harder it will be to get new members.

Agree with Iowa. I'm kinda hardcore about spammers, but when growing a forum, it makes sense not to make posting a pain. That'd discourage real posters at least as much as it would spammers.

It wouldn't. This type of member probably automates the process of posting spam. It would make their life a little more difficult, but they'd get around the measure - by spamming us even more. A CAPTCHA is a measure that they could not easily get around.

my ex forum use to implement this :
First post with link = account suspended, a normal real member will normally go intro sub forum to introduce them self ....
