    Thx Will and Alex!
I have that exact same position, in fact I think I have commented that with Will before.
This is not about badges and titles, in any case I must agree that this page is a bit messy:

    Net Builders - Show Groups

IMHO we should reorder it to:

    Admins
    SuperMods
    Mods

And maybe remove the other categories from there.

IF we ever make the move and start using anything to distinguish members, I suggest something tiny little and not those Red Bold names that immediately cause the impression of an Elite community.

There are more admins hiding on this forum than there are Spencer's.

Really Well said, and the concept of building a community where every member will be treated like an important member for the community is an excellent thought,
So every one will contribute as its their own place and we gotta make it better everyday.

It now looks different. You can change the settings further in the AdminCP.

    Thanks, Will!

I've added the Moderator group to the listing. Everything should look cleaner now.

If you are worried about implementing distinction, perhaps you could go with something very minor such as merely italicizing the usernames of staff members - moderators, super moderators and administrators alike.
Leave colors, titles, and boldness at the norm like regular members.

If we, as users, want to know what specific position they hold, we can navigate to the Show Groups page.

By the way, that's a great mod for re-arranging the Showgroups page. I have in installed on my forums as well.

I have to agree on Wills' point, but what I think is that ranks aren't meant for a status. Ranks are meant to give some privilege.

The reason I've been adding 'Moderator' beneath my username, is because I want to help people, and like the TS told, it wasn't really clear for some people who they can go to for help.

A rank like moderator, doesn't show anything about a 'high status', but it shows where users can PM to in case of emergency or help.

I'll stick to my previous user title again, but I guess the Forum Leaders page is doing enough than

The Forum Leaders page is quite ineffective in certain situations. When I'm reading a thread, I tend to pay more attention to posts made by staff members, and sometimes skip over some of the others.

If this happens, I may miss out on important information such as a public warning issued by a moderator (i.e., "Let's not let things get too heated in here" or "No more references to xyz will be permitted").
It's less of a dominance thing and more of an informative and helpful tool for thread browsers.

Which means you may skip some good information provided by one of the members that is not part of the staff.

One of the main reasons I keep coming back to NB (other than all the great information) is because I have not seen any posts like that made by the mods here. I really hope that NB remains an open-minded forum which doesn't restrict its members from speaking their mind on any thread/issue like it is now. If such mod posts start becoming neccessary, then that might be a sign that things are going in the wrong direction and the root cause should be addressed rather than using "warning" messages such as these.

Please be aware that Mods and Admins here ALWAYS try to solve things in a polite way, either by PM, e-mail or IM, we're not here to make public judgements of anyone.

If, for any reason, we need to issue a public announcement, it'll be made in a very non-biased way that won't lead to any misunderstanding by any user.

Also, remember that our PM inboxes are open, and you're free to ask for hlep from any of us any time. (just remember that we also try to sleep every now and then )
