    "Unread Post" Mod

    Hello NB staff members.

I am have a suggestion related with Unread Post mod.

and suggestion is replace this mod with unread post since your last visit mod.

and the reason is ------ i am active member but still have 1615 unread post. and when i come back then its increase but i dunno which is the new post and which one is old becaz i dont like to visit all sectioins.

so if you replace this mod with unread post since last visit mod then thats better so i can {or everyone can} know that which one is lates post and can go there.

    ~jakki~

    =- Edit -=

just find on vb forum and got this
    http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=197485

This displays the actual number of posts that are still considered unread by you (and will show up in a 'getnew' search).

so here are no need to change mod. just have need to change setting.

    Thanks to all

You can always click 'Mark forums read' and next time you come back, you'll see the new posts after you marked the forums read

At least that's what I do

    jakki:

This has been suggested before, and the unfortunate reality is that there is currently no technical way to make both groups of members happy.

If I change the setting, this feature becomes useless to people like me who visit the forum in small bursts throughout the day.

My forum used to have a menu/navbar hack that included "new posts" by section. Adding in "unread posts" by subscription would likely require little work.

You can add in &include= and &exclude= at the end of the getnew search commands.

[ame=http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=172811]How To Include / Exclude Forums From "New Posts" - vBulletin Community Forum[/ame] for more information...

Though, I'm not sure how that works with the fancy forum names here on NB....but it does seem to work just fine, as http://www.netbuilders.org/search.ph...new&include=16 gives new posts for the proxies forum.

I find that extremely nice on larger forums because it lets me skip the sections that I could care less about...and while this is not exactly what the OP was wanting, I think the narrowing topics down for new posts would certainly come in handy...as currently, I don't bother with the new posts link as there are simply FAR too many new posts I do not care about.
My Homesteading blog is not worth reading
My Magick site is not worth it's server space
My Occult forum is likely something you'd not have an interest in
My wife's Hedgewitch site is worth checking out though...

    We have something better here.

Go to your Edit Options screen and you can click forums you want to ignore in your New Posts scan.

I enjoy the old acronym RTFM... is there a faq for the neat little addons ya'll have?

I'm not ready to NIX any of them from my list yet...but yeah, that option sounds better.

I think we may need a rollup sticky for these type of posts:

I've blocked GC and I still can't keep up with the post volume here.
