Webhosting Ads now cost $5 US per month
Starting immediately: Existing webhosting threads will be removed, and new thread starts cost $5 US, and will be removed unless renewed.
This forum has a LOT more people reading it than posting, so we hope you make a lot more than the fee for posting the ad.
NOTE: Exceptions will be made
We will on request waive the fee...
- for active moderators
- on a case-by-case basis for active members with a history of valuable posts in other sections
Case-by-case exceptions will be made solely at Netbuilders discretion. Regular contributing members are *encouraged* to PM asking for an exception, as this move was made to keep YOUR posts from getting buried in spam.
PM me for the PayPal address. Your ad will be allowed out of moderation on receipt of payment.
We believe this move will add value to our active members by making thier advertisements stand out prominently. ~ Thanks

Now I will not have a page full of new posts every day to read.
Now spammers are not going to pay....
So that may now be an awful empty part of the forum.
But good you are doing this!
Actually I don't mind... lost more posts than that by changing the entry setup to where the Nike shoes / jersey / Ugg boots crowd cant find the front door anymore. If you check Who's Online, there's 5 or 6 of those in the lobby with their nose pressed against the glass, unable to post.
Moreso than a revenue mission it's to protect the WTS threads made by active members that see theirs get buried by what appears to be paid posters. If someone that isn't a regular member wants to play too, NP, they can fork over 5 bucks. We're all about equal opportunity.

There ya go... got a new thread in there now from Vectro. No charge by virtue of the fact he's a regular contributor.
Bet he isn't buried by other offers this time tomorrow either.
Good move and it's about time that something was done about the numerous people who post 50 or more hosting ads over time and never participate in a single discussion thread. Yeah, there were a lot of guys doing this.
It does get annoying when I visit NB on some mornings and see mostly new hosting ads.

Just didn't seem appropriate for regular members to have their ads buried by people that do not otherwise participate. This will cut down on the probability of that happening. Either the ones using it as a free ad platform will move on to a target that doesn't charge or they'll decide to participate.
If it isn't yet apparent... it will NOT be considered "valuable participation" if they use one ID to ask "Does anyone know a great host?" and another to answer it with a self-promo. That will lead to a less salubrious outcome.
Now how about domains?
Seems all there is there is advertising ebay auctions.
We could just rename that the MikeNormal Forum. His daily auction appears to be about the only thing there.
