Most of the sites were pretty dead, parking pages -- or were related to specific niches only. Therefore, I was probably only submitted to < 200 directories. No monetary, or SERP-related results.

Metrics are incredibly important in Internet marketing, and I have been slacking on them.

I submitted six articles using ArticleMarketer between 23 November and 2 December last year.

Searching for the title and author of each of those articles returns these numbers of results:

Of course, these are just places where the articles were published. These numbers don't tell us how many links we received. But is it even possible to get that data?

I made this hard for myself, because I mostly linked to pages which already had lots of inbound links. It's impossible for me to separate the old links from the new links for any specific page.

But, I did link to one new page in the article with 161 results on the web.

That page shows zero inbound links with a Google link: search, four inbound links in Yahoo Site Explorer, and seventeen inbound links in Google Webmaster Tools.

In terms of PageRank, sixteen of those pages are still unranked and one has achieved PageRank zero.

I've submitted hundreds of articles using Article Submission Service.

Here are the search results from searching for title and author of some of these articles which were submitted between 23 October and 19 November:

That page shows one inbound link with a Google link: search, 32 inbound links in Yahoo Site Explorer, and 32 inbound links in Google Webmaster Tools. Of those 32 links, 22 were the result of article distribution through ArticleSubmissionService.

In terms of PageRank, all of those pages are still unranked -- even though that submission occurred on 17 November.

So basically you're happy with article distribution or not? How is the page doing in Google?

When I did my last round of tests to measure SERP increases from article marketing, the results were astoundingly good.

But, of course, the only constant is change. I need to re-do those tests.

What I dont get with these services, and I have used most of them, is they claim to submit to 1000's of sites, yet I only ever see 50-100 links at best reported in yahoo site explorer and goog WMT. Am i missing something.

I think that most article sites are just not getting crawled deeply.
