Somehow... sometimes it is removed and sometimes it isn't. I have seen both behaviors, but I haven't determined what causes one and what causes the other.

100% agree on you. I have my fair share of experience with this one.

Surely the best way to rank for duplicate content is to change the web web page title text and introduce a couple of new paragraphs at the start and end rather than spinning the words? Such as writing an introduction to the article and conclusion with the article in the middle of your extra unique content?

I made tests on this one, i created a web 2.0 page and copied every word from wikipedia about a particular topic. I didn't changed anything from the article. I just optimized the web 2.0 page for a particular keyword. After a two weeks of being live (web 2.0 page), it has made to the 1st page and even at number 1 spot for about a month. I didn't make any promotion or backlinking whatsoever with this web 2.0 properties and up until now, it's still in the 2nd page of google

I also do what you have stated above about changing/adding some paragraphs at the beginning and change the titles sometimes; it's a great way if you are really aiming to rank duplicate contents.

UAW is a web-based program. I know some people that is using UAW to its full potential, especially for its spinning and backlink building capabilities. Just like you it made me scream when I read their sales page.

I think it's $67 for a monthly subscription and it's not advisable for someone that is starting out in the IM world especially if you're on a budget. I have also known some issues about UAW that some of your articles won't be published to lots of blogs out there. I think it really depends on how you use it.

Not really, unless you have a rubbish sounding content source articles, then the produced articles will surely be not great to read.

These tools are Microsoft Windows executables which analyze your articles and present you with options for replacing common words and phrases.

The concept looks intriguing, but I'll wait for a Unix version.

It's quite risky. Compare between rewriting and spinning, rewriting is just revising which is easy but spinning is you change synonyms, and it's hard for me. I have posted an article on EHow.com, but I'm waiting for their approval.

The theoretical advantage to spinning is that if you put the right spin tags into your source article, you can create hundreds of slightly different versions of your article with the click of a button.

Rewriting you have to do every time.

Its all about how much work you put into it. If its well thought out then you can produce some great results. If you do it automatically then your stupid, but manually does work. Here's the sample I made for when people request this service from me.

After you write them you MUST spin it a few times and read it all. You will find mistakes that need to be changed. But if done right it can be extremely useful!
