Thread: What is a non-working link?

Hybrid View

  1. What is a non-working link?

Why does the tool return "working" and "non-working" links? How can a link not work?

Simplify things for all of you.

A non-working link is one that goes nowhere!
It leads to a error page, or a site not found page.

    That's it!
Anything else you read here that is different from the above is just people posting nonsense.

  7. It could also be a link that has bad coding...so that it appears to work but it doesn't go to the proper URL.

I think a "non-working link" is the same as a "broken link"... that is, a link that takes you to a page that doesn't exist.
But it could also be literally a link that doesn't work, and doesn't take you anywhere, but then it isn't really a link, it is just an address (url)...
This is an interesting philosophical question!

Here's the NetBuilder's broken link checker:

bottom left of the forum page in the event you don't scroll down that far.

If a link is able to establish the connection between two pages, sites or destination, that is a Working Link. Just if the link is not found you can see a 404 page not found error.
