I try to separate each test.

But, the targets for these tests were a mix of new sites with almost no links and old sites with huge existing link profiles.

    Very recently, I paid another fellow $125 for comments on 3PR6, 7PR5, 10PR4, 12PR3, 15PR2, and 15PR1 dofollow blogs.

I did not see any effect from the two tests I ran last year. I have yet to see any effect from the test I ran recently. The site I promoted actually received zero visitors for the last two days.

I hate to cause people trouble, and I know the blog comment sellers are doing a great job at blog commenting, but I have to tell all NetBuilders:
It appears that Google is ignoring all links from blog comments -- even DOFOLLOW blogs!
There is nothing what i can show you as evince . Still if you can show some URL of website from where your links is coming. it might be two cases-

    - the links you are getting to your website are all no-follow
or - there are many other links on the pages from which you are getting incoming links.

Its better to check all the links manually as do-follow blogs are proven and recommended techniques.

I checked the links manually. The vast majority were dofollow. They just didn't do any good at all -- in three different testing scenarios.

    Recommended techniques aren't always proven.

Blog comments aren't supposed as promotion for a website nor getting a better SERP. They are meant to discuss points, and the 'website' is only an extra field without much importance.

People use Username as anchor text, that isn't meant for that, it's meant for OR your real name OR your nickname. The website isn't meant for promotion, it is just an extra field that can give some more info about the user that commented the post.
That's just how I think about this, I really don't understand why some people think wonders will happen because of blog posts, rather give out the money to links on other websites (instead of giving 100$ out too 100 comments, spend the 100$ on 2 proper backlinks from an established website)

    That's just my opinion ofcourse

I'd assume you have a Google Webmaster account, can you track and confirm that if any of the links are appearing in there.

I've left a few blog comments here and there, but they are appearing in my GWT center. IF they are actually of any help or not, I can not say 100% sure, I usually only leave comments to discuss things and not build links.

I guess it could depend on the blog, does Google index the blogs the comments are coming from, do they have a lot of other people leaving their blog comments link on the same page thus diluting the site?

Yep. The links show up in GWT.

The SERPS just don't go up.

Links in blog posts do wonderful things for SERPS.

Except, of course, if those blogs have had their ability to pass PageRank turned off. A lot of the blogs selling blog posts on webmaster forums can no longer pass PageRank or relevance.

I think that you should wait for another PR update and then look for the exact reason.

There's no need to wait for PageRank updates to see, or not see, SERP changes.

But yes, I have monitored PageRank updates and they confirm that blog comments are ignored by Google.

There is definitely a lot of money being spent in this area. But, lets say the blog has a TOP COMMENTATORS plug-in on their blog, and our link gets displayed on the homepage, wouldn't that make a difference?
