Hi!

Blog Carnivals are a decent way of getting some traffic.

I have tried it once and git around 30 visits ;p

Had any experience with this?

What is a Blog Carnival?

A Blog Carnival is a particular kind of blog community. There are many kinds of blogs, and they contain articles on many kinds of topics. Blog Carnivals typically collect together links pointing to blog articles on a particular topic. A Blog Carnival is like a magazine. It has a title, a topic, editors, contributors, and an audience. Editions of the carnival typically come out on a regular basis (e.g. every monday, or on the first of the month). Each edition is a special blog article that consists of links to all the contributions that have been submitted, often with the editors opinions or remarks.

There is so much stuff in the blog-o-sphere, just finding interesting stuff is hard. If there is a carnival for a topic you are interested in, following that carnival is a great way to learn what bloggers are saying about that topic. If you are blogging on that topic, the carnival is the place to share your work with like-minded bloggers.

Blog Carnival is the place to come to find carnivals you are interested in, to submit your blog articles to carnivals where they belong, and to organize and maintain carnivals.

I get some references from those kind of blogs. They usually drive me more traffic for like a week, then it's over.

Yup, it just lasts for a few days. And i am not too sure if it converts, but any traffic is good traffic.

I love the concept. Would a membership site work around this? I mean, getting people to pay for your weekly newsletter which basically just collects info on whatever subject from around the web and puts it in once place for them.

Well, it should if your rates are competitive and also you offer good stuff. If it is around 5$ people do go in for such stuff.

EDIT: I Would just like to add, i tried this when Let's Sermo was the worst blog on the WWW with the most stupid articles, maybe thats why it did not work too well. This was in the first month of my blogging 'career'. Then i just deleted everything and started again.

i just heard about it after read this thread so i'm not join it yet. I will try to join as contributor and hopefully there is positive effect for my blog.
