    blog comment spam suggestions?

It seems that since I upgraded my blog to wordpress 3.01, my spam folder is getting filled up fast. I used to get 2 or 3 spam comments a day, now it seems like 20 to 30. They all end up in the akismet folder, but I used to go through it to look for legit comments but now that's a lot of work.
I moderate all comments, and use akismet and bad behavior. Either my blog suddenly got really popular, or something changed under 3.01. It's almost like bad behavior stopped working. Has anyone else noticed this? Or have other recommendations. As I said, I can just dump the akismet folder every week, but I no longer want to take the time to go through it.
    Suggestions?

For some reason, they are arriving at your akismet folder. Just clean up that folder once in a week as you said. ( I think it is a pretty good solution to stop some spam.)

(I am developing another method to help to prevent spam posting and signing ups (in forums and blogs) I will be announcing it at 1mfp's blog once I complete it)

It could very well be that the word has somehow gotten out about your site amongst spammers. Maybe you made some spammer blog list.

I used to rarely get spam posts, then suddenly one day (prior to 3.x) it jumped to 10-20x the previous and stayed there. It was at this point I installed Akismet. And life was good again.

I moderate all comments, and just let Akismet do its thing. I rarely have a spam comment slip through. If it does, I flag it as spam and move on.

As far as I can tell, the vast majority is automated spam, and stupid too.
It all ends up in akismet (and I moderate all comments) so it's not a problem of the spam ever showing up on my blog.
The problem is that if I check my akismet folder and it has 200 stupid spam comments, I don't want to take the time to go through it and see if any where actually legit. Make sense?
I'd rather have less spam end up in my akismet folder so I can manually review it. Bad Behavior used to block almost all of this I think, but now I feel I am getting almost flooded with it.
Again, it isn't on my blog, it's just I don't want to look through my spam folder anymore for legit comments because it now takes time.
Any suggestions to block these automated idiots in the first place?

Add some kind of captcha to your comments if you haven't already.

Also there is a plugin called hashcash that pretty much stops bots from posting.

I never bother checking my spam folder.
Some of my blogs, it is like upwards to 50 a day hit that folder.

Life is too short to waste time going through a spam folder.
Hey, that is why they call it a spam folder.

Those that do make it, I spam any that have as a username something like:
    viagra48, carsforcheap, etc.
I like to see real names.

I just recently, well three weeks ago, put in a captcha on registration forms and comment forms. The amount of spam comments have gone down, but I still get a couple everyday. I bet they do it manually. The funny thing is, sometimes there is no link in their comment, nor the link box. Just a name, email and a comment that doesn't even make sense.
