Do You Really Need A Landing Page?

If anyone watched and read the Mass Control Launch by Frank Kern and seen his landing page, I think that is sort of the new landing page. It is simple video plus opt in box. It works I have tried it with a couple websites and optins are around30-50%, but that is assuming your video is of good quailty. Basically give stuff away for free and people will buy from you

I will say the same thing than everyone: video. If you care enough to present yourself to your potential customers, well, that' a big +.

Also, tell me if I am wrong, but aren't landing pages suppose to be a presentation for a product, not a blog?

I would say so, no point in doing a landing page if you aren't selling aproduct

Anyway, i just wonder, because i read many reference about landing pages, is homepage categorized as langind page? because the meaning of landing page itself is "the first page a visitor to your site sees" (problogger article). If yes, that's mean no site without landing page?

And the answer of this thread question is already clear, of course it's needed.

But if landing page is different with homepage, why PB which write about importance of landing page, not using it?

I think it was more of an analogy, by which he means that every single age on your blog has to be designed so that your visitors want to stay on your site.

I'm pretty sure that Mr. Rowse has plenty of affiliate sites, just not on Problogger itself.

Because different things work for different people/websites.

Anyway, like Nic said, he might own affiliate sites, or maybe he just wanted to write an article on the topic. I know Darren Rowse gets a lot of emails with questions for him, so maybe he was answering one of them?
