I have to admit, I'm not much of an English expert too, because I live in Malaysia, where most Chinese speak Singlish (www.wikipedia.com/wiki/Singlish), or, broken English.

Blogging improved my English because
I read other blogs - Usually, when you blog, you'll read other blogs too because you want to know more about a certain topic of your interest.
(Further more, if you use twitter, you'll discover many links to interesting articles, which means more reading!)
I write - Writing is simply a must to become a better writer. You know I don't need to explain this :P .
In conclusion, read and write and your English will improve naturally.
And by the way, you should read more to improve your English, Akira, otherwise you may give a bad impression of WMP to first-time visitors.
Spelling is an issue, and using a style guide can really help you keep consistent.
I like to read other blogs daily, big, small and startup. They all help with writing style I feel and give me an idea about what I like and dislike about other blogs so i can do it (or not) myself.
Spelling however, is an issue and I really could do with getting a decent spellchecker and grammar checker in firefox or wordpress.
Is it necessary to choose a nice topic for the blog ? I'm thinking of opening a new blog at blogger.com.
Would be way easier. But I live in the Netherlands. This country contains only 17 million people. So the ones who might read blogs is a really small number, it is just stupid to not write in English.

I agree you should write in English if you have your basics straight.

I learned English at a very young age and i think that my English is pretty good (at least i hope so),anyway even thought my English might be ok,that doesent mean that i am a good writer,it takes a lot more to be a good writer then good knowledge of the language you are writing in,just something you should think about :)
