    How much?

    Because simon thread titled "how long?" i become aware about every single things on blog should be manage properly. If in the simon thread we're talking about how long the content should be written, now i wanna discuss another things which maybe important for blogger :

    How much article you placed on the homepage?

    I'm sure it's not just a choice, but there is something more related to the effectiveness in getting visitor, SEO, or etc. And this discussion is to explore that.

    In my opinion, i think to place 3-4 article is enough. Because placing more article (more than 4) will make your homepage size is larger and opened slowly by visitor. If it's like that, visitor may leave it.

    And also, to place more than 4 article on homepage will make your sidebar (right/left) looks empty...Because commonly sidebar menu length is same with 3-4 article.

    Personally I do about 8 at the moment I think, but that's just because I think that it looks best on my page. It also gives readers a pretty big choice of what to read, as well as a good idea of the sort I thing I post.

    On my new design I'm not sure how much I'll show. I suppose I'll see how long the sidebar is and base it on that

    One important factor to consider is load time. I think 5 articles would be a good number. Also you should consider the length of the page.

    Actually, it's depend on how is your sidebar menu lenght. If your menu is long, 5-6 article is enough. If your sidebar menu is short, 3-4 article is enough.

    But if you wanna make reader can choose article comfortably, read more system is become a choice, right?

    Personally I feel it also depends on how the posts are laid out. There are some types of designs that look better with a load of different posts, but then some look better with fewer posts.

    In my opinion there are loads of different factors to take into account, and even then it's only personal opinion.

    @all
    i'm sorry, what i mean here is in the case when the content is placed in the center of page, and the right-left side is used for purpose just like menu or advertising.

    @simon
    I can't imagine the amount of post is depend on the design (do you mean template of the blog?). Can you give us example when it's become looks good even having a lot of post in homepage? It's not an usual.

    Too less and it will look as if you don't have nothing to say.

    Too much and you get something like this: http://www.bluehatseo.com/

    So I would say 4 or 5.

    Actually http://www.bluehatseo.com/ can look better if the author justify the text in him/her content.

    Another reason why i think place too many content is not good :
    www.smarterwealth.net is made by Ryan, now it's redirected to ryan blog. In the past i'm used to read SW, and find the article on homepage is so many. And now in him new blog, he place only a bit article. There should be a reason why he is doing this, right?

    Anyway, about readmore system, since there is no one opine about this, just to inform that there is a myth that google hate it.

    It just varies from design to design. Some look better with 5, some with 10, some with 1. It just depends on what sort of theme it is.

    Like, on my old theme I had 8 (I think), but I only show seven now. I tried experimenting with 5/9, but they just didn't look as good.

    Simon is right, actually I didn't tought of it before, but you can add much more articles on your homepage if your theme is able to show two on the same line (like Simon's).

    And it's very neat. :P
