Thread: How Often Do You Post?

Hi guys.

Just wondering how often you post on your blog, and what you think the optimum time is?

I post every two days, as I feel this is a constant flow of posts, but (a) it's not too many, thus giving me more time to advertise, and (b) it gives people more time to comment before the next post comes, thus increasing the comment average

What do you think?

Since you are still at school, I know that you cannot affort spending more time on your blog than you already do, but I think that an optimal posting frequence would be 2 posts everyday. That is, of course, only the ones that live from their blogs that can really do that.

2 posts everyday??? That is insane IMO.

You will have a pathetic comment average for sure (Unless you are Darren Rowse)

On Let's Sermo I post once in 10 days, each post gets 30-50 comments.

On The Dollar Diary I post every 3-5 days, and i have a comment average of around 42.

Yes, but half the stuff that JohnChow comes up with is utter rubbish anyway (sorry John, but it's true! )

Farrhad, yeah, but I wouldn't want to chance not posting for 10 days as you're likely to lose a load of type in traffic as people will stop checking back.

Agreed!

That's why for TDD i post frequently, almost same schedule as your blog.

But LS still get 1200 daily visits

Yeah, I suppose the more traffic/the more established your site is, the less it matters as you'll still be getting plenty of social bookmarking and search engine traffic. Look at Rauru... he didn't post for about a month and his blog actually got MORE successful!

What I have realized is it depends on your time and desire. I have not posted on my blog for awhile partly because of procastination and too many other things, so I just need to pick a frequency and stick to it.

Well, I don't currently have a blog but I'm in the process of launching one. When it comes to the consistency of my posts, I'm going to aim for 3-5 posts a week, maybe more.

I shouldn't struggle with this either as I already have 20+ posts ready to be published which will last the first month, doing this will give me time during my first month to write more articles for the second month etc etc. Being as organised as I am is one of the key elements to success in my opinion.

Yeah, I personally feel that consistency is the key. I comment on one blog where the timings are all over the place... sometimes I'll have to wait 2 weeks for them to post, sometimes two days, sometimes a week, you get the idea. As a result I stopped checking back and only go on there if he tweets about it.
