Personally I think it depends on the type of blog you're running. If you're running a blog where you're purely giving information, nothing else, I recommend writing a bit about the subject and how brilliant your site is at delivering content on that subject.
If, however, you're running a site where you are connecting with the readers and that sort of thing (which you should try to do), I recommend an about page where you talk more about yourself.
Here's my about page, if anyone's interested... I recently spent some time making it a bit better:

For me, an about page is a thing you should spend some tim on it to make it best as possible. Often, this is the one of the first page I visit on almost any website.
It should be as much, if not more, interesting than any other page on your blog.
Humor is a good alternative too.
Yeah, it's always great to put personality in to your about page. After all, people will click on it to get to know you a bit better, so if you're just writing in a monotone way and not actually being yourself, they aren't going to get to know YOU at all.Quote:

The perfect "About" page? That's a hard question. For me, it's a page with a small bio about yourself, what's the site about and why people should stick around. It should also include a contact form so people can get in touch with you.
