Write content people want to subscribe to. You can also try explaining what RSS is on a hidden page just as problogger does. Providing that information could raise subscribers.

I do have a problem with RSS readers. I have 44 subscribers now, but when I publish a new article, I have not really more visitors. Should I give only an exerpt to my readers, so they will click through? But when I see that in my RSS Feed, most of the times I don't want to click further. Can someone help me with this dilemma?

I have it enabled, but I keep putting off adding a form. Sheer laziness. I have email forms on other sites, and they do way better in regards to getting regulars.

Thinking about it now, time to go add a form...

Yes it is best you show excerpts so people come to your site.
That is what most people do.

Email subscriptions are okay, but it is best to replace them with Aweber email subscriptions. Then you can send your reader whatever you want.

I prefer using a full feed. John Chow has a full feed if you want an example. Many people unsubscribe if you just show some of the post.
