Do they really believe their spam will get approved?
exactly. but that's their hope. if they really want to get approved theyd have to do it manually and post a comments thats really related like they've read the article.

ON another forum (aint gonna name the scammer forum) and people are screaming for comments.
    Posting stuff like"
Comment on my blog, all comments automatically approved.
Comment on my blog for a backlink. I approve all comments, even adult.

    And more.

In other words, they want to be spammed for some reason.
Am thinking they believe that google will give their blogs a jump up because it will be full of comments.

So I am testing on one blog to see how Askimet works out.
Started today, so it will take me a few days to work out the kinks and see how it goes.

    Why do people comment spam?
Do they really believe their spam will get approved?
I am surprised that you have not been using Akismet all along. It is the best plugin ever developed for WordPress.

I think many blog owners accept spam because they are operating under the delusion that all content is good content.

I'm using auto-approve with WP-Spam free plugin which is working quite well.

I sometimes check them. Mainly because I've had a few people tell me they posted a (pretty long) comment and then it was put into the spam queue.
