Another small thing you can do is to link to the blogger. A link is a link and always helps.
I think comments are awesome. I also like when I get fanmail, which doesn't happen often, but really makes my day.
Promote their blog posts on Twitter. End the tweets with '(via @thebloggersusername)' so that they will know.
I guess link love combined with a comment (or more) is enough. Plus, you'll probably get the favor back.
The top two are definitely sharing links and posting comments. Posting good/useful comments also helps support you, as people will notice it and may check out your website/blog.
Linking is the most common way to thanks them. I will also donate some money if only there is a donate button in them site. And i would like to recommend the site to my friend. That's all i can do :D
And if I may add, guess posting is more than often welcomed by bloggers. So if you want to support one, ask him if he would accept posting an article from you.
This might not work with every one, but I know some people that would say yes almost anytime... (isn't that right Simon? ;)).
Absolutely true.
@josh
so, it's two benefit. You have a chance to get new visitor and show our appreciation to the blogger. But do you think it's sound not pure appreciation? I mean, because you also hope people come via that comment?
It's not wrong at all, anyway, just have some doubt to do it
What kind of post is that?
Posting great comments on someone else's blog is undeniably a mark of appreciation since you are taking of your own precious (well, in some case it isn't...) time to enhance their blog with good info.
Josh is only saying that you MAY get people interested in your own site if you take the habit of posting valuable and helpful comments, which is absolutely true.
I don't see where your doubtness comes from.
