    Up-to-date blog themes

I find MOST themes and even most theme sites all pretty much consist of run-of-the-mill fly-by-night themes that never EVER update. With my limited knowledge of any back-end things server wise this means each time Wordpress comes out with a new version I am having to find a new theme... this sucks cuz I really like some of those themes.

Are there good places to get reliable themes that actually update the ones they have rather then needing on changing themes each time I'm prompted to update?

On one of my blogs I've simply tweaked out the header to include an image rather then just changing it's color, and then tweaking out a few preferences to make it less then default...but it's still pretty 'default'. Is this enough of a change to constitute it being 'custom' or is a new 'unique' theme still needed?

How do all of you cope with such matters?
My Homesteading blog is not worth reading
My Magick site is not worth it's server space
My Occult forum is likely something you'd not have an interest in
My wife's Hedgewitch site is worth checking out though...

Maybe the solution for you is to find a reliable designer and let him design a custom layout for you. If he's reliable enough he will update the theme at very low cost or even for free if it's just a little tweak

The Best Wordpress Themes thread may have some useful suggestions.

Except for the lack of widget support, I haven't had much trouble using older themes with newer versions of Wordpress.

Wordpress seems far better in that regard than vBulletin.

The way people in this business appear and disappear, I'd feel a lot more comfortable using an off the shelf theme from an established vendor -- if updates were important to me.

It does not bother me one whit to change themes on any of my blogs.

I see a better theme out there that will do the job of the present theme?
    Bam! Replaced....
