A lot of factors to consider. Just do what you can. I think in the end you will wish you had done more because of the search traffic you will get on misc. posts, but posting to post is just dumb.

First of all, posting as much as you can is your best bet. A good start out point before you try and get people to your site is at least three posts. This way you will still be able to build on it, but the people will have something to read and hopefully want more content. Remember that it is important that the content is good.
All of this will take time, so don't think overnight you will get 10,000 views. Unless you have done this before, it is not really possible overnight.

I agree with others in that quality is more important than quantity. Regular readers will want to see new posts every few days, everyday would be great if you can manage that many without letting the quality slip.
Many of the great blogs that I read dont care about keyword density or SEO, they are just great blogs and as such get a huge amount of traffic. I think that if your content is great then everything else will follow.

Can't really make out a number but I think a blog should have at least minimum 30 posts to be rated "decent"
One consideration is how many readers that you have. Let's say that you have 10,000 readers, posting a few times a day would make sense.
I'm publishing 1 post every 2-3 days. There's no need to publish one post each day, but if you have a lot material, it won't hurt.![]()
