WordPress 2.9.1 Beta 1 also released
Unfortunately, the recent 2.9 release triggered a bug in certain versions of PHP’s curl extension. With these versions of curl, scheduled posts and pingbacks are not processed correctly. To fix this problem as well as a handful of other, lesser issues, we are quickly releasing 2.9.1, the first maintenance release of the 2.9 line. Help us get 2.9.1 ready to go by testing 2.9.1 Beta 1. The easiest way to test Beta 1 is to install the WordPress Beta Tester plugin, elect to get on the point release development track, and then perform an automatic upgrade via the Tools->Upgrade menu. You can also download the Beta 1 package and install manually. Fourteen tickets have been fixed in 2.9.1 Beta 1. Since the curl problem and a couple of other problems are dependent on specific hosting configurations, any and all testing help is greatly appreciated
I'm using older versions of WP on all of my blogs and I'm afraid to update because it might screw up some new designs or plugins![]()

I don't believe that there is an easy way to roll the update back.
The best method is to do a back-up and back-up the wp sql database as well. Make sure that the db is working. Then you can do the update. But first deactivate all your plugins. Should anything go wrong, it will be easy to delete the site and reinstall the back-up.

Just say right now that WordPress 2.9.1 is available.
I have upgraded a couple of my sites and did not run into any problems.
However, one of the new features in 2.9.x is the addition of oEmbed, which is supposed to allow you to cut-and-past a You Tube URL onto a page and it will create the embed code. For some reason it does not work on my sites. I suspect that you may have to use the visual editor (which I do not use) to make it work, but I don't see that documented anywhere.
Has anyone else got this to work?

Thanks for the update but I think that we already had that function before but that is advance function.
But the thing I don't need that function by the time I need that, wordpress will be more advance.
Thanks for the update...
