    Smile Wordpress Business Directory

    Hello

    I have a site which is running under Wordpress 2.9. I have been wanting to add a business directory to the site. The site is related to Montreal, and I had the site for about four or five years, but have never gotten the time to add a business directory.

    Back in 2006, I added over 200 business listings by hand. It was a plain HTML site back then. In 2008, I switched to Wordpress.

    So again, do you guys know of any good business listing plugins I can use for Wordpress? If not, would you guys recommend any good business directory systems?

    I am looking it to be under a free license, but I don't mind paying either. I have a budget of about $100, if I need to buy one.

    Thanks

    Would you not be better to use a dedicated system like PHPLD and have it in a folder in your site?

    Its been working fine, but it does not display the business addresses. It only shows the company name and phone number/email or website.

    I think they have it when they launch premium plugin

    I don't have this plugin installed so I can't test this, but after having a quick look through it, I may be able to help you with that.

    Open functions.php (make a backup first) of the plugin and around lines 255-257 you'll find :

    PHP Code:
            if(!empty($l->company_phone))

    $directory .= @$l["company_phone"]."<br/>";

    $directory .= "</td></tr>"
    After $directory .= @$l["company_phone"]."<br/>"; and Before $directory .= "</td></tr>"; insert
    PHP Code:
            if(!empty($l->company_street1))

    $directory .= @$l["company_street1"]."<br/>";
            if(!empty(
    $l->company_street2))

    $directory .= @$l["company_street2"]."<br/>";
            if(!empty(
    $l->company_city) && !empty($l->company_state) && !empty($->company_zip))

    $directory .= @$l["company_city"].", ".@$l["company_state"].", ".@$l["company_zip"]."<br/>";
            if(!empty(
    $l->company_country))

    $directory .= @$l["company_country"]."<br/>"
    So it now looks like this:

    PHP Code:
            if(!empty($l->company_phone))

    $directory .= @$l["company_phone"]."<br/>";
            if(!empty(
    $l->company_street1))

    $directory .= @$l["company_street1"]."<br/>";
            if(!empty(
    $l->company_street2))

    $directory .= @$l["company_street2"]."<br/>";
            if(!empty(
    $l->company_city) && !empty($l->company_state) && !empty($l->company_zip))

    $directory .= @$l["company_city"].", ".@$l["company_state"].", ".@$l["company_zip"]."<br/>";
            if(!empty(
    $l->company_country))

    $directory .= @$l["company_country"]."<br/>";

    $directory .= "</td></tr>"
    Now that should hopefully produce an address output which looks like the following (assuming each field has a value):

    Code:
    123 Fake Street
    Suite #1
    Fake City, Fake State, 12345
    Fake Country
    Again, this was from just a quick look at the plugin's code. I have no idea if it will actually work. So make a backup of the functions.php file and give this a shot and let me know if it works or not.

    That does not seem to work. I can not access my site at all.

    The error message;

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_OBJECT_OPERATOR, expecting T_VARIABLE or '$' in /home/montraal/public_html/wp-content/plugins/business-directory/functions.php on line 261

    Whoops, I left out a character, sorry!

    Change

    PHP Code:
    if(!empty($l->company_city) && !empty($l->company_state) && !empty($->company_zip))

    to

    PHP Code:
    if(!empty($l->company_city) && !empty($l->company_state) && !empty($l->company_zip))
