Well this past week, three blogs I had on one host company were just eliminated by them!
Am guessing since they would not answer my tickets, and their emails bounced, that they just wanted to get rid of me.
No great loss on those 3 blogs.
Am selling off the domains.

Then 2 days later, three more blogs I had on another host company disappeared from the net.
But this host company let me know right away there was a server problem and they were working on it.
Chink!
The next day, the send out an email that someone had got to the root of the server and wiped out everything!
So, 3 more blogs hit the dust.
But these three I wanted to keep alive.

So they are now on yet another host company and are live, though I started each from scratch!
As in, nothing from the past is on these blogs.
Long story, but keep this in mind when doing a backup.
Make sure the backup is not corrupted!
Hahahahahhahaha....what are the odds of 3 backups being corrupt when I need them?
Should have told me at the start, hey your backups you are doing are corrupt. Please try again....

Now I am down to 5 blogs.
And I love it!
Less work for me (one I am working on using a new amazon plugin so it will be auto set).

Should I get more blogs?
I am putting the brakes on that until after the new year.
Will see then.

I know too many people who just work at being on the internet.
Always marketing, always pushing and pushing and advertising and so forth.
They take everything so serious!
Sure you know a few like that?

Now me?
I treat the entire internet as one big playground!
Sure, I have too many blogs and sites, but most I just leave alone and they just sit there.
I do not stress out nor waste time on seo, marketing, etc etc.
Heck, except for twitter, I have no need for all those so called social sites where if one just posts one will make scads of money (or so all those social media experts say, they just don't do because they are poor).
So I have fun with my blogs.
Posting what I want when I want.

And yes, I do ignore those negative idiots that are found on the net!

And I just love to yank people's chains!
Especially if they say they are expert in seo, social media, advertising and marketing, and so forth.

Just thought I would share with you that I just do not take the net seriously.

The key to getting what you want is TAKING ACTION (ACA DOING). You must have to identify clear instructions of what you want, and detailed necessary actions you must take to get what you want.

Put actions items into your daily work plan and dedicate the time to do them. Think of it as making appointments fr your own success. Make at least three appointments with yourself a week. Make them one hour appointments, and keep them.

If you do this, you will have 150 hours of time dedicated to your success in one year.

Note: Make sure at least half of this time is spent one-on-one with connections that are imperative to your success. The rest of the time can be spent writing, preparing your e-zine, or taking other actions to be a value-provider.

How Article Marketing Can Promote Your Website

If you are reading this article, you most likely own a website or have interest in them. Most webmasters know that article promotion is one of the best methods of getting targeted visitors to your websites. However, getting those people to actually read through your article and follow your link is a whole different task. Knowing how to effectively write quality content and promote them at proper destination is a whole different skill on its own. If you are lost in the process of article promotion; you should take note of some of the following tips to get started.

1.	There are many false facts going through the online webmaster community about the truth in article marketing and promotion. As a website promoter, you should understand that the goal of article marketing is not all about building backlinks to your website. It is indeed part of the tasks, but it shouldn’t be your aim. If that were the case, there would be no article marketing in the first place. Think about! If links were all that people cared about, why would so many of us spend hundreds of dollars on quality content? Your goal with article marketing should be to engage the reader with quality content. If the content is good, the reader will follow through your link.

2.	Now that you understand why many people participate in article promotion, we can focus on the content aspect. It is crucial to have quality and unique content. Your content should make sense, have proper grammar and spelling, and it should be coherent. Now this is what keeps your readers attached the article. If your article is full of grammar mistakes, the reader will not continue reading. Another issue you should focus on is the articles title. This is the key to the package. If your title is not catchy, readers will be less likely to click it. Make sure that your title will catch the attention of people looking to read something on your niche.

3.	Some article websites will require you submit a summary of your article. So, make sure that your articles summary is really a summary of your article and not the first two lines of your article. Your summary should recap the first half of the article as well as introduce the main topic of discussion. Like the title, your summary will need to be interesting and unique.

4.	If you cannot write articles yourself, or if you do not have the time to do so, you can simply outsource the writing. However, you should be careful when hiring writers to write for you. Making sure that your writers are knowledgeable in the English language is very important if you want quality content. Asking potential writers for past examples of their writing will be great.

5.	Lastly, you should place two links in your article or in your resource box, which will be linked to your website. When linking your website, make sure to link using the keywords you are targeting.

When you have done all of the above, you are ready to submit your unique article to a quality article directory. You should be receiving traffic from these links as time progresses.

Joomla Website Development

Joomla is one of the most cherished online CMS (Content Management Systems) that has powered content intensive websites and e-tailing zones. Almost...

Joomla is one of the most cherished online CMS (Content Management Systems) that has powered content intensive websites and e-tailing zones. Almost every other website which has the need for constant updates and categorized content is enabled by Joomla. One of the much appreciated aspects about Joomla website development is that it is based on a framework. Once the end user installs the Joomla CMS framework from their cPanel or Windows – Plesk host the dummy website is automatically created. The premade templates can be then installed on to the framework to ease off the development process.

The cycle time of creating a website through CMS such as Joomla is fairly low, mainly because of the premade templates available at the disposable of an end user. The next steps include harmonizing the look and feel through proper categorization and content. The content can then be added to the website and marked against the categories listed by the end user. In order to be successful with Joomla’s web development the end users should be sure about their niche and the template in use. Joomla templates and add-ons can be tweaked by the PHP developers in order to suit the requirements of their clients.

Joomla Add-ons

Joomla Add-ons for restaurant sites, virtue mart and other niches makes it a preferred platform for website development. The webmasters can download the base version for their niche and configure it to suit their business requirements. These frameworks might be paid at instances if third party solution providers are offering the custom tweaks.

Benefits of Using Joomla

The over heads of coding the script are greatly reduced. Joomla CMS is a framework where users can configure their options and get set going.
The content can be aptly categorized and presented to the end user as per the compliance requirements.

The webmasters can download and install free and custom templates on their Joomla hosting platforms. For instance, webmaster with a Gadget site can download and enable a cell phone or gadget related template on their host in no time at all.

It can be easily integrated with payment processing options such as PayPal, Visa, Master Card and more.

Joomla’s intrinsic security capabilities make it a supreme framework for the webmasters to enable for their e-tailing, restaurant and news sites.
The end users can get to benefit from free update on Joomla versions as and when these occur.

Since it’s an open source CMS, the users can be assured of top-notch updates from time and again.
The robust online support can be availed by the end users through online forums, videos and other tutorials

The attractive front-end can accommodate Videos, Rich Media, graphics and colorful text options.
Social plug-ins for Facebook, Twitter, Stumble Upon and Digg etc and other useful resources can be instantly triggered while tweaking the options in Joomla.

With minimal clicks a webmaster can configure, manage and include new tools in their Joomla CMS host.

  Schematically it looks like this:

Schema displayed on the picture shows an example of how the domain name should be read. In this case we have the root node support, then there is a node soft-industry, the com node completes the root of the site domain name. This is the way in which domain names should be read (support.soft-industry.com).
Each domain name in subtree belongs to this domain and if domain name may be included in several subtrees, it also can belong to several domains. Also domains are divided on so-called levels. There are domains of the first level (top level) - domains in which the parent is the root domain (" "). (Example: ru, com, net, etc.). There are also domains of the second and more levels. According to this second-level domains have firs level domains as a parent (or root nodes) domain and so on.
Schematically it looks like this:

In this example (see the picture) we see that the domain name support.soft-industry.com included in several domains: domain soft-industry and domain com.
What domain delegation is?. As noted above, DNS is a distributed database, decentralized. Delegating a DNS system involves a transfer of responsibility for any subdomain to any person (organization). In other words, if an organization owns the domain, the subdomain of this domain can be delegated to other person or organization and responsibility for this subdomain will be delegated on subdomain owner person or organization. This method ensures decentralization which allows you to manage the local segments of the common database, also it ensures that data of each segment will be accessible to the entire network (this mechanism based on "client - server architecture-term)

On this schema we can see that domain example.soft-industry.com belong to some other person who is responsible for its work.

DNS (Domain Name System) - is a computerized distributed database which stores information about domains. Domain Name System is one of the fundamental components of the Internet and it is needed to convert IP addresses to domain names and vise versa.
To understand necessity of DNS we need to look in to entrails of history. As you know, maybe someone not, the Internet appeared as network established by the Ministry of Defense in 1969. It was called as ARPAnet. So, in the early development of all information on its sites, including information for the mutual transformation of domain names into IP addresses stored in HOSTS.txt.You may wander about necessity of all this. The fact that all the nodes (in the modern understanding the Internet sites) had an unique address - IP addresses. Now imagine that the DNS does not exist, and in order to open site soft-industry.com site, you would be needed to remember the IP address. It is quite uncomfortable and harder in times than to remember couple of words (domain name). So, the main mission of DNS is to make our work with internet resources more convenient and advanced.
In fact DNS - is a database with multiple domain names and IP addresses belonging to them. As noted above in the ARPAnet all data about the nodes stored in a file HOSTS.txt. This file was located in Network InformationCenter (NetworkInformationCenter - NIC) of Stanford Research Institute (Stanford Research Institute - SRI). The source of distributing this file was host SRI-NIC. Network administrators of ARPAnet periodically send email to NIC with changes made in local HOSTS.txt files and this received files was synchronized in main NIC HOSTS.txt file. But the rapid growth of ARPAnet network led to big problems. First, the growing number of new node and file HOSTS.txt which was always updating, led to impossibility of timely update of main NIC database. Secondly, it was necessary to ensure the uniqueness of node names which was virtually impossible. Saying other words, system based on this approach (using the file HOSTS.txt) was not able to expand and could not function properly. So, ARPAnet administrators began to researches to create better system which could solve all the problems.
Paul Makapetris became the responsible person, which in 1984 issued a documents RFC 882 and 883 (now are replaced by RFC 1034 and 1035). In these documents was described the main properties of new DNS system:
- Distributed administration. Responsibility for different parts of the hierarchical structure lays on different people or organizations.
- Distributed storage of information. Each node in the network should retain data that fall the area of responsibility, and (possible) address of the root DNS-servers.
- Caching of information. All node can store a certain amount of data that do not belong to its area of responsibility (helps to reduce root DNS server load).
- The hierarchical structure in which all nodes are merged into a tree, and each node can independently determine the work or the lower nodes, or delegate (transfer) them to other nodes.
- Reservation. Amount number of server response for storage and maintenance of their sites (zones) and can work separately one from another, which will help to prevent data loss and violating of chain connections if one of zone server will go down.

Here's a tentative scheme of the database:

The database structure presented in the form of so-called "inverted tree", with "root" located at the top of this "tree". Each tree node has a fixed label, which determines it relative to the root node. There is an empty label (""), it defines the root of the tree or the node root. Each node is the root of new tree branches, which in DNS called domains. Saying other word, com, ru, net, edu - all these names are domains and the roots of their branches. Each domain can be divided into smaller components, called subdomains. The collection of all subtrees, which form a complete tree defines the space of domain names. The name of each domain is unique and determines its location in the DNS database.

One of the primary objectives of any Network Operations Center (NOC) should be to reduce downtime. This would include obvious actions such as immediately responding to an IT Enterprise function that failed instead of waiting until the failure became visible to Users. It would also include watching for problem symptoms and reporting/correcting them before they turn in to outages. Because a professionally run NOC has extensive monitoring tools that provide deep visibility into the equipment, the NOC can frequently help Systems and Network Administrators troubleshoot problems, thus significantly reducing the mean time to repair a problem (MTTR). In some cases, the NOC can even restore service without bothering the Systems Administrator if this is the way the NOC - IT relationship is structured.
Monitoring will help develop knowledge about common problems that can be leveraged to harden the IT environment overall.
Lower IT Operating Costs
The cost for even brief computer service outages can easily run in the thousands of dollars. At that rate, if the NOC prevents even one service outage a year, it has paid for itself and then some. In fact, it is our opinion that any Monitoring Service Provider that does not save money for it's clients, isn't providing much of a service at all!
Increased Productivity
A NOC should be taking care of the day to day problems and issues that come up with your IT Enterprise gear. This will free up IT Administrators to do the actual Engineering work that they are being paid to do. This might include projects such as environment hardening, implementing "best practices", upgrade and capacity planning and other much more productive and interesting activities instead of mostly dealing with fire fighting.
Revenue Protection
It's pretty much a no-brainer that avoiding outages in equipment that is directly tied to revenue is a good thing. But revenue isn't only lost when a service goes down. Customers will go elsewhere if the service is slow or unreliable. And many times you won't even know that the Customer's bad experience sent them to your competition!
Customer Retention
Many Customers don't leave because of one particular bad experience. Many go to the competition because of chronic unreliability or poor overall performance. I know of many IT Departments that have pretty respectable uptime numbers but have Customers who perceive their reliability to be poor. That minor 10 minute DNS outage may seem trivial to you but it could just be the straw that broke the Customer's back.
Monitoring will allow IT Organizations to "keep score" on how well they are doing in delivering key services to Users and Customers, and in doing so will gain confidence and credibility with them.
Improved Quality of Life
I've managed IT Departments myself. I can tell you from first hand experience that it's no fun being in a room full of Managers listening to complaints about how *I* allowed such-and-such a failure to happen and what was I going to do to ensure that nothing like that ever happened again. I've also spent years as a Systems and Network Administrator coming to work in the morning only to find a queue of angry users outside my office wanting to complain about the latest disaster that's going to consume the better part of my morning to resolve. At the very least, a NOC should be catching the vast majrity of these high visibility events and arranging for rapid service restoration. Instead of having to explain why the network went down again, your biggest problem ought to be how to inform Executive Staff about all of the outages that didn't happen because you are such a clever IT Manager!
But another very important quality of life issue revolves around the dreaded "on call" pager rotation duty. No one I know likes carrying the darned thing. This is partly because Admins get tons of false alarms at all hours of the day and night that they have to interrupt their lives to deal with. It also has to do with the fact that the "lucky" person holding the pager gets alarms on every problem in the network, not just those having to do with equipment that he/she is responsible for. With a professional NOC in place, false alarms go to almost zero. And the only time an Administrator will get a page or a call is when something happens to gear that they actually administer. Imagine being able to enjoy a day at the coast with your family and not have to worry about whether your cell or laptop is within the wireless service area!
Capacity Planning
With professional grade monitoring tools, the NOC can be a huge help when doing capacity planning. The NOC will have long since baselined all of the equipment and if resource consumption is increasing they can easily plot when increased capacity will need to be put in place.
Service Level Agreement (SLA) compliance
Monitoring allows IT Organizations to check service availability in real time, examine past service availability data and use that information to meet the service level it has guaranteed to users of the applications.

What to do if you mail server was blacklisted?
If, despite all the above, you find yourself on a blacklist, here's what to do. First, take a deep breath
Everything will be OK.
Than you need to check your mail server IP to be really blocked or not. To do it in most productive way you may use this links:
Very well known RBL, well recommended.
Direct UBE sources, verified spam services and ROKSO spammers
More info here on SBL list: http://www.spamhaus.org/sbl/index.lasso
Illegal 3rd party exploits, including proxies, worms and trojan exploits
More info here on XBL list: http://www.spamhaus.org/xbl/index.lasso
If you want to use both SBL and XBL and the new PBL then you can just enter this into SurgeMail.
More info here on ZEN list: The Spamhaus Project - ZEN
Also you may use "SPAMCOP" http://www.spamcop.net (I think one of the best RBL searcher)
And here is another sites which works with blacklists quite well:
drbcheck: dr. Jrgen Mash's DNS database list checker
http://rbls.org
http://www.dnsstuff.com
OK. You have checked those lists and you been really blacklisted. What you need to is:
First of all you get a notification email about what company have blacklisted you and why.
You need to read it carefully.
After that you need to:
A copy of each unique bounce message indicating your mail was rejected due to a blacklist listing.
A full copy of the bounced email; if it's more than one, analyze them as a whole to determine what they have in common that may be causing problems.
Any and all proof you have the recipients requested to receive the email (now you see why confirmation can be so useful).
If the problem mailing originated with one of your customers, you'll need to obtain some of this information from them. Remember, you're responsible for the practices of those who use your mailing resources.
Next, examine this information very carefully to determine what likely caused the blacklisting. If you figure it out, fix it. (I've described how to make your system spam protected a little bit earlier in this article)
When all necessary measures were taken you need to visit RBL company web site and find your server, IP etc in their list and fill up the form in which you need to indicate the reason (why your server was sending spam) and the ways in which you have fixed this spam abuse. Tipicaly in 5-14 days your server will be checked and listed off from black list.
I hope this article will be useful for you. Thank you for your time.

*What RBL is?*

What RBL is?
RBL stands for Realtime Blackhole List, this is a term for DNS based systems designed to assist in the prevention of email abuse. The first such system was created by Mail Abuse Prevention System (MAPS) LLC who have been granted a Service Mark for the term. The generic name for wsuch services is DNSBL.
The DNSBL consists of a DNS based system containing lists of IP addresses whose owners refuse to stop the proliferation of spam whether this be by running their mail servers as open relays, or by allowing their dialup users free outbound access to port 25.
As subscribers to the DNSBL, ISPs and companies will know from which IP addresses to block traffic. Most traffic blocking occurs during the SMTP connection phase. The receiving end will check the DNSBL for the connecting IP address. If the IP address matches one on the list, then the connection gets dropped before accepting any traffic from the spammer.
Some ISPs, though, will choose to blackhole (or disallow) IP packets at their routers. The goal here is to block all IP traffic.
Blacklists
There was a time when a listing on the MAPS RBL would strike fear and loathing in the hearts of email marketers. Being blocklisted meant lost revenue and a sullied reputation. But then something happened: As more blocklists sprang up, with many of the newer generation more radical than their predecessors, blocklists started to lose their teeth. ISPs started to find blocklists, especially the less responsibly maintained ones, could (and did) lead to false positives. Relying on them could (and did) lead to failure to deliver email their users actually wanted.
Meanwhile, email marketers began to realize permission-based email marketing was the way to go. Ethical email marketers were less likely to end up on well-maintained blocklists. And, ISPs were beginning to disregard the less well-maintained lists.
As a result of this tandem paradigm shift, many email marketers now regard a blocklist listing as simply a cost of doing business. Being blacklisted is no longer a dirty little secret. It's OK, it happens to everyone. Similarly, ISPs no longer take a blocklist listing as conclusive evidence an email marketing firm is in league with Satan.
Whitelists
Listing an IP address on an email whitelist is the functional equivalent of "you should accept email from this IP address without reservation." And mostly, that's exactly what happens. That's because to get on one of the whitelists presently offered, the email marketer must either put up a financial guarantee as to the cleanliness of its email lists or contractually obligate itself to send only email that meets the whitelist's requirements.
Something to note regarding both blacklists and whitelists: Very few large ISPs still use them on a wholesale basis. If they use these lists at all, it's in an advisory capacity, in conjunction with other available information. The one glaring exception to this rule is Microsoft. The company recently announced it will start allowing senders listed on the Bonded Sender whitelist to have an e-ticket to Hotmail inboxes. Also, many ISPs, notably AOL and Yahoo, maintain their own internal whitelists.
On the other hand, lots of small-to-midsized ISPs and spam filtering programs let both blacklists and whitelists dictate their email acceptance decisions. For that reason alone, it's important to know how to avoid being listed where you don't want to be and what to do if you are.
Open Relay
A mail server that is configured to relay mail from end users to any destination address is known as an open relay. A spammer may discover that Company A left their mail server, smtp.company-a.com in a vulnerable state. He may then be able to send tens of thousands of messages from his desktop computer on a dial-up modem using some software that connects to the smtp service on smtp.company-a.com which, in turn, accepts the mail for delivery to thousands of users whose domain's mail exchangers reside on potentially many other hosts across the net.
Keep in mind that not all emails passing through an open relay are necessarily spam. It is very possible (perhaps even the normal case) that an open relay is used to deliver regular "good" emails as well as spam messages. This is an important point to remember because a RBL does not focus on the contents of the message but rather the server that the mail passes through in the process of delivery to the intended recipient.

Closed Relay
A mail server that is configured to only accept mail based on certain criteria such as the destination address or the originating IP address. Using the example of Company A above, the mail administrator may only allow the smtp service to accept messages that meet certain conditions in order to be accepted for delivery by the SMTP service:
1. Messages have to originate from hosts on Company A's network OR
2. Messages have to be addressed to user@company-a.com OR
3. Messages have to be addressed to user@another-allowed-domain.com
There may be many other cases where relaying are allowed, but these are prototypical configurations that are commonly used to allow an organization's users to send messages to anybody and to only allow external users who are trying to relay through smtp.company-a.com to send messages to users at Company A.

So here is a little list of thing you need to do, to be protected from blacklisting:
The Basics
First of all, being blacklisted does not mean that you have committed some kind of offense or illegal action. Blacklists have multiple purposes, including the denial of SMTP direct access for dial-up and DSL users, which mostly engage dynamically assigned IP addresses. Users are forced this way to send their mail through their provider's mail servers, which are properly configured.
Blacklists may also define what is considered to be an abuse, sometimes in a debatable manner, as no strict rules are set regarding this matter. Some of them include NDR and other auto-responses in their policy in order to prevent NDR attacks and other similar problems. During normal operations, as the RFC states, any server is forced to accept NDR messages.
Other lists aim to limit the networks assigned to certain countries. In such cases, a provider can use a policy and not accept any emails sent from or through those countries.
The Details
There are a few steps you should take to in order to prevent being blacklisted. The most important ones are closely related to securing your mail server and making sure no third-party can use it to send e-mails in an unsecured fashion:
* Do not allow unsolicited ads and other bulk e-mails to be sent  from your server, by the hosted accounts;
* Do not run pro spam services like: spam websites, drop mail  boxes for replies to spam e-mail ads, DNS for junk mailers, payment  processing services for the products advertised in spam messages, junk  mail tools (like lists of e-mail addresses);
* Make sure all your hosts are as secure as possible;
* Make sure you do not have any spam bots on your systems;
* Make sure your mail server is not an open relay;
* Make sure your proxy server is not an open proxy;
* Check that the abuse@yourdomain.com and  postmaster@yourdomain.com addresses exist and that they are functional;
* Make sure the information provided in the domain registration  service (whois) is updated and complete;
* Make sure all your mail servers accept mail from: delivery  notifications (NDR);
* Don't use an ISP that has a bad reputation when it comes to  spam. Doing so may get you blacklisted just because your IP address is  part of their allotted subnet;
* Make sure your DNS is properly set up and that you are  complying with the RFC rules regarding service configuration;
* Make sure your mail server does not send poorly-formatted  messages;
* Deploy Domain Keys and SPF for outgoing messages;
* Use secured connections (SSL/TLS) as much as possible;
* Do not allow unauthenticated users to send e-mails neither locally nor remotely.
When you feel that your server is correctly configured and spam-safe, you can use one of the open relay testing and DNS testing tools available on the Internet to make sure everything is working as it should. If any errors are then reported, they should be fixed before taking any server into production.

Hello once again
Today I'd like to talk about PCI Compliance. In this article I'll tell you what it is and where it should be used.
So let's start.
So, first of all I think that you should know what exactly PCI is:
The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a set of requirements designed to ensure that ALLcompanies that process, store or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment. Essentially any merchant that has a Merchant ID (MID).
The Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) was launched on September 7, 2006 to manage the ongoing evolution of the Payment Card Industry (PCI) security standards with focus on improving payment account security throughout the transaction process. The PCI DSS is administered and managed by the PCI SSC (www.pcisecuritystandards.org), an independent body that was created by the major payment card brands (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and JCB.).
It is important to note, the payment brands and acquirers are responsible for enforcing compliance, not the PCI council.
Also, here is other important thing, PCI DSS list or PCI Data Security Standarts:
The PCI DSS, a set of comprehensive requirements for enhancing payment account data security, was developed by the founding payment brands of the PCI Security Standards Council, including American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa Inc. Inc. International, to help facilitate the broad adoption of consistent data security measures on a global basis.
The PCI DSS is a multifaceted security standard that includes requirements for security management, policies, procedures, network architecture, software design and other critical protective measures. This comprehensive standard is intended to help organizations proactively protect customer account data.
The PCI Security Standards Council will enhance the PCI DSS as needed to ensure that the standard includes any new or modified requirements necessary to mitigate emerging payment security risks, while continuing to foster wide-scale adoption.
Ongoing development of the standard will provide for feedback from the Advisory Board and other participating organizations. All key stakeholders are encouraged to provide input, during the creation and review of proposed additions or modifications to the PCI DSS.
The core of the PCI DSS is a group of principles and accompanying requirements, around which the specific elements of the DSS are organized:
Build and Maintain a Secure Network
Requirement 1: Install and maintain a firewall configuration to protect cardholder data
Requirement 2: Do not use vendor-supplied defaults for system passwords and other security parameters
Protect Cardholder Data
Requirement 3: Protect stored cardholder data
Requirement 4: Encrypt transmission of cardholder data across open, public networks
Maintain a Vulnerability Management Program
Requirement 5: Use and regularly update anti-virus software
Requirement 6: Develop and maintain secure systems and applications
Implement Strong Access Control Measures
Requirement 7: Restrict access to cardholder data by business need-to-know
Requirement 8: Assign a unique ID to each person with computer access
Requirement 9: Restrict physical access to cardholder data
Regularly Monitor and Test Networks
Requirement 10: Track and monitor all access to network resources and cardholder data
Requirement 11: Regularly test security systems and processes
Maintain an Information Security Policy
Requirement 12: Maintain a policy that addresses information security
To further the adoption of the PCI DSS, the PCI Security Standards Council defines credentials and qualifications for QSAs and ASVs. The PCI Security Standards Council also manages a global training and certification program for QSAs and ASVs, and will publish a directory of certified providers on this Web site.
After you have read above you may think something like this:
- Oh, men, it's not for me, my customers quite protected, anyway it is not my trouble, etc.
May be it so, but I'm not sure about how hacking of your customers credits will help you to earn more money or rise up your business. May be it is so, but I advice you to read this article to the end and review your opinion before making such confident conclusions.
PCI applies to ALL organizations or merchants, regardless of size or number of transactions, that accepts, transmits or stores any cardholder data. Said another way, if any customer of that organization ever pays the merchant directly using a credit card or debit card, then the PCI DSS requirements apply.
Also you nee to know that PCI is not, in itself, a law. The standard was created by the major card brands such as Visa, MasterCard, Discover, AMEX, and JCB. At their acquirers/service providers discretion, merchants that do not comply with PCI DSS may be subject to fines, card replacement costs, costly forensic audits, brand damage, etc., should a breach event occur.
For a little upfront effort and cost to comply with PCI, you greatly help reduce your risk from facing these extremely unpleasant and costly consequences.
So I think that PCI compliance is the best way to save your money, time and customers.
I hope this article will be useful for you. Thank you for your time and have nice and productive day.

The support admin work is notable for a large amount of requests and reaction speed on it. Requests are so to say small and simple, but there are a lot of them. In such a stream of problems being solved, you face underlying potential problems from time to time. SELinux is one of them. If you install software to your Linux OS and it doesn't work for the reason of insufficient rights although all the directories rights are installed correctly. If everything is checked than you are definitely on the rocks of SELinux.
Briefly about essence and purpose.
SELinux (Security-Enhanced Linux) - Linux with advanced security. It is an implementation of forced access control system in Linux OS adding the mandatory access mechanism. With its help program restraints are being introduced describing its behavior opportunities in the form of policies, and OS itself provides its observance.
SELinux is a part of the official Linux kernel, starting from the version 2.6.
The system is being developed by the National Security Agency of USA cooperating with other researching laboratories and Linux commercial distributives. It is spread under the GPL license. Is it necessary to SELinux?
Remember by disabling SELinux you delete the security mechanism in you system as well. Think it over carefully and if your system is in the Internet and public than think it over once again.
You need to decide, if you want to disable SELinux temporarily to analyze the problem or to disable it for a long time. Perhaps the best choice would be conducting changes in the policy to allow operations being blocked - but it requires the script policy knowledge and may be a very difficult task.
There are two types of disconnection for OS in general:
• Permissive - toggles the SELinux kernel into the mode, in which any operation is allowed. Operations which are to be forbidden are allowed and messages about the current command inhibit are journalized. The mechanism defining file markers (labels), being created/altered is still active.
• Disabled - SELinux is completely disabled in the kernel. Any operations are allowed, as well as the process labeling files and processes is disabled
The complete SELinux deactivation may lead to problems in case you want to activate it later. When the system is enabled without the marker, files without labels are created correspondingly which may lead to problems if the system is loaded in the Enforcement mode. Consequently complete file system remarking will be required. Theory without practice is useless...
1) Temporary disabling:
You can turn on the permissive mode of the system by means of the following command:
• echo 0 >/selinux/enforce
You have to be authorized as root and in the role of sysadm_r:
• newrole -r sysadm_r
To bring back all the changes (go back to the enforcing mode):
• echo 1 >/selinux/enforce
To check the current system status:
• cat /selinux/
Indicated above commands store the system statuses before the rebooting, if there is a necessity to start the system in the permissive mode, then you have to make the following changes in the next file /etc/selinux/config (for Fedora Core and RedHat Enterprise).
String
• SELINUX=enforcing
To change for:
• SELINUX=permissive
For the other Linux distributives, which have no such a configuartional file, it is required to edit the string of kernel boot to /boot/grub/grub.conf (if the grub loader)
In the end of the « kernel» string to add the following:
• enforcing=0
As an example:
title SE-Linux Test System
root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.23.1-49.fc8 ro root=/dev/hda1 nousb enforcing=0
2) A complete SELinux disabling:
A complete SELinux disabling, as it was discussed before, turns off all his functions, including the files and processes marking flagging.
For Fedora Core and RedHat Enterprise just editing /etc/selinux/config and instead of
• SELINUX=enforcing
We have to put
• SELINUX=disabled
and rebooting the system.
For other Linux distributives, which have no such a configurational file, it is necessary to add in /boot/grub/grub.conf in the « kernel »the following :
• selinux=0
As an example:
title SE-Linux Test System
root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.23.1-49.fc8 ro root=/dev/hda1 nousb selinux=0
And of course to reboot the system...
I suppose that the «difference between a priori and a posteriori uncertainty» will be useful to you.

I wonder why so many people are refusing to join a network others like. "I don't tweet" or "facebook isn't my thing".
If everything I did in life was my thing, I'd be a lot happier, but most of what we do is just a matter of convenience vs time saving.

For example:
How many times have I been asked who I am on Twitter?
200?

"firetown"
"cool added u"

10 seconds

"I don't do twitter"
"OK"
"cool"
"why?"
"I dunno"
"OK"
pause
"U should"
"Why?"
"Cause" ...

so I have seen 10 minute conversations where ppl tried to explain why they wouldn't sign up and what a waste of time it was.

Get my drift?

Once you visit Montreal, you will get to know that it offers visitors a variety of hotels to choose from. Once you arrive at the airport, you will see at least a dozen hotels right beside the airport. The downtown region has various five star hotels, such as Holiday Inn, Sheraton and the Hilton Hotel. Booking a hotel in Montreal is very easy, due to its fast check-in. All hotels in Montreal offer VIP services and extra activities at their location. The Hilton Hotel offers its visitors with full swimming pool access, spa treatment and free continental breakfast in the morning. Some of the hotels offer a gym for people to exercise in the morning. A new trend that has gone throughout Montreal is in offering people with free wi-fi internet access. The reason is mainly due to the fact that tons of business representatives come into Montreal. The Days Inn hotel right autoroute forty, is an excellent location to hold conferences and meetings. When coming right into Montreal from Ontario, you will see the Quality Hotel of Point Claire. This is a six story hotel with over 150 rooms, which offers an excellent stay for business men. All hotels in Montreal are very price efficient.

The dangers of mining – the right equipment is CRUCIAL to your success.

The dangers of mining – the right equipment is CRUCIAL to your success.

I knew a guy not long ago who was working the same shift as me. However instead of spending his money on proper equipment he would drink it away. This of course brings out a huge problem that I see with miners nowadays. Not enough people are taking their safety seriously.

We seem to think that we’re in the age of technology but that doesn’t make mining much safer. In fact the conditions we are exposed to are still very poor and proper maintenance of equipment is essential to our productivity and well-being.

For me there are a few pieces of equipment which are the most important (at least for me) this is because they are what allows me to be mobile, flexible and work in practically any environment.

What it really comes down to for me and a lot of other miners is the following;

1. The type of shoes you have, they should have a strong grip and steel toed covering to protect and prevent any broken toes

2. The glasses you wear over your eyes. I’ve personally seen rocks break right through cheap glasses; make sure your investment isn’t one you’ll regret later.

3. Mask over your face and the oxygen tank you bring down with you. Always make sure it’s in working order in case of emergency.

All of these different pieces of equipment are equally important when you’re working or getting back up. Most of the time as miners we don’t take the time to go over and make sure there are no breaks, cracks or problems with our equipment instead we forget about them until our next descent.

This is a dangerous strategy and by doing so you’re walking a very thin line. Check, maintain and stay safe and use contractors from mining equipment distributors.

So I've got this camping site that I made for a little competition with a friend. Basically, we're both making a blog with the goal of bringing in the most revenue after the alotted time.

So my goal was to simply make a great resource, help it get exposure and go from there. The rules are pretty simple, we can't pay anyone to do anything - no outsourcing. This is what's gonna make it hard, having to do everything (writing content, off-page seo and linking, etc).

So, this is just for alittle note to myself - and another link to throw at it. I wonder where netbuilders will rank for "Camping Carooners" after this blog post? We'll see I suppose, it'll be neat to find out.

Anyway, Search Engines - here are some links I need indexed:
http://wiki.cio.ny.gov/wiki/Money

All of the above URLs have backlinks to my make money online blog, and they all come from .gov or .edu URLs with high PRs. Now, we just simply have to wait for them to be indexed. :) I also submitted this post to Digg, to speed up the process even more!

As of today it is currently ranked on the 7th page of Google for the 'make money online' keyword. While being ranked between the 60th and 70th result on a search engine isn't fantastic, it's not too bad for such a competitive keyword in almost no time at all!

So now, I'm just going to keep up my efforts and continue to work on my site and improve it to the best of my abilities, while dedicating a lot of time to search engine optimization. I am still investigating The SEO Value of Squidoo and Backlinks with vBulletin Blogs. The latter, which I am clearly doing right here, has proven to be extremely effective and that has me a bit excited. Wish me luck!
