Automated RSS feeds for content generation. What do you think about it?

Well its getting more popular everyday, people using RSS feeds from other sites to update their blogs.
We know about the penalties from google, but I would like to hear some experiences.

Do you guys use automated RSS feeds in for example your wordpress or joomla blog? If so, are the results good for you?

I tried them had only two one was a full rss feed site the other was a partial with my own unique content. Google banned them both for violation of there TOS. So I have given up on that.

I even had the WordPress Uniquefier running on one of them and it did me no good.

Nopes! I don't use automated content. It's not good for your visitors and for serps. But, if you have an authority site then you take use automated content to take advantage to some extent. It's useless for new sites.

it's not a total waste of time, you just have to be smart about it.

"How is Google going to penalize me for this?"

If you're using other people's data, make sure that you're at least making it unique. Add a paragraph before each quote, and only quote 30-50 words.

It takes manual intervention, but after you figure it out, it doesn't take long enough that it's not worth it.

Also, link out to the sites where you're pulling the quotes. That helps =)

Some people (like Jason P. @ MakeMoneyDynamo) will tell you that you can make huge money, but beware !

Just read comments and you will see how many persons tell you that you are stealing content, and it's TRUE. When you start an automatic blog with rss feeds from other blogs YOU are a ROBBER !

Stop thinking about Google, Money etc., just answer this question :
Would you be happy if someone start an automatic blog using YOUR content ?

Wait! I think this is whats happening to me. On my blog, I keep getting pingbacks from other sites in the same niche. They use my article that I spent sometime to write on thier site. However, they still link to my site. Is this good for me or bad? When they do this, they take a small sample of text from my article and post it, so when it goes through copyscape both sites have the same words. Who does this benefit? I know I can get some traffic, but who would the big G penalize?

If they add link to your site, it's good. Google sees webmasters liking your content.
The less that you can have is a better pagerank . But, you should keep an eye on this blogs, see if they add a linkback everytime and if they don't broke the images of your blog.

  10. The scrapers I've seen lately have switched to using rel=nofollow links, so there is no benefit at all.
