Thread: Dummy Me Ping Question

Hi,

OK This might sound like a odd question but just wondering if it would be helpful or not.

When I make a blog post I ping the post. I was told that is correct.

When I make a new lens on squidoo I ping the lens. Again I was told that was correct.

When I bookmark a site I ping the bookmark. Not really sure if you should do it but I have read people saying that they do.

So here is my question.

When we make a forum post should we ping the individual post?

If no why are the others correct.

If yes can you over ping a site.

I have read of people pinging their site every two hours. But only making 1 post a day.

So what is the correct way to ping?

Ping every two hours with one post per day is ping spam. Eventually the better rss feed servers will ban the site.

I think it's best to generally ping once per post.

OK, but my question is should we ping are forum posts?

I think that there are no need to ping our forum post, It will definitely be a pinging spam if we do. I only ping new web entries or blog post.

Sometimes we do need to think if what we are doing is a form of spam or not.
