W3 Schools is definitely the best. You can easily teach yourself, and it is very easy and fun. It is much better that taking a class.
It only takes a few days to learn html anyways.
I learned it by checking W3Schools Online Web Tutorials, also downloading files and see what they do, than checking the source code..
It's the easiest way to learn things IMO :D
Some of you may have already seen my post about my experience with Yahoo Geocities. Well, in order for me to code my site, I had to learn HTML, so I would just look around for the certain code I was looking for to get the job done.

Yes, I know many people do take classes.
I learnt HTML by studying tutorials online. Learnt XHTML through Lynda.com videos. I am now learning PHP, Coldfusion and Flex through Lynda.com too...Wanna boost my portfolio and start a big project.
I have just started learning HTML and PHP from the guy in the previous post.
Just learnt three types of HTML: Strict, transitional and Frameset :)
