Thread: How to rank a single blogpost

Hybrid View

  1. How to rank a single blogpost

I just search blogposts I have and then tried to find which of my blogpost ever ranked and found none. I use to rank some months ago. I guess concentrating on how to choose blogpost TOPIC Titile interesting don't make it. But if you are to make the title of the blogpost interesting, how do you make it to rank?

A lot has changed with Google since "some months ago".

You can make the title of the blogpost interesting and focus the HTML title tag on your targeted keywords to help it rank better. Follow up with a couple of good quality link from a related site. The HTML title tag is more important than the blogpost title for ranking purposes.

Maybe the time-stamp of the post is the problem? Because the "online diary entry" became old. Also, it's not likely that you have many external links pointing to your individual posts.

A good blog post is like an internal page of a website that once optimized with unique titles, descriptions, H tags and other required on-page stuff and at the same time powered with enough links from good sources, it will gradually move towards top pages of search engines.

Simply have a look at some blogs posts that have been made by experienced webmasters. Although they are parts of websites, and not on their homepages, but since they have been optimized properly and have incoming links, they can have their own ranks and traffic.

  5. It doesn't mean that your topic failed, as other sites on the same topic increases with a good amount of backlinks they beat yours, so keep start making your backlinks not in quantity but in quality matters a lot.

5 of my blog posts provide me with 80% of my traffic. I have no idea why. But I will not touch them.

I am in the same boat, there are a few of my blog posts ranking in Google. Those blog posts is bringing me in a lot traffic compared to my other posts. I must say it also depends on the topic itself as a lot people will link up if your topic is interesting and informative.
To manually build links is still fine though but might be tedious if you are to do it for all of your posts.

On a sidenote: My highest traffic posts also seem to be the oldest posts of my blog.

A lot of posts on my blogs rank up there in the SERPs.
And yes, they do bring in traffic.

So to blog owners I wold say, do not just rely upon your main page with your lastest posts.
But check out your older posts and see where they are in google and bing.
And maybe with a tiny bit of tweaking, you can get them higher.

  10. What you need is links to that blog post. When I post, within minutes I go out and create other blog posts--and create links and social media mentions of the blog post. That usually does the trick.
