Thread: Monitoring Google position

Hey there, I was wondering what people use to monitor their rankings in Google, and what they thought of this idea.

I currently run a little site to monitor my rankings at seh.net. I currently query google.com and watch for the results.

Some things like news and stuff can make the results less than accurate. I could probably work on my script to handle this better, but haven't yet.

I know search.aol.com is backed by Google. I was wondering what your thoughts were on querying search.aol.com to get results from Google without having to actually deal with news in search, multiple datacenter results, and personalized results.

By now I used Free Monitor for Google, but SEOBook offers a whole range of tools to select from. Keyword Rank Checking Software & Rank Tracker Tools: SEO Book.com

I use Marketsamurai(which is a paid tool) or WEB CEO(Free)(Highly Recommended) to track my rankings on the Search Engines.

Apart from these there are many Web based tools like Digitalpoint Keyword Tracker, SEO SERP Tracker, Rockin Keyword Tracker, Seo Centro Rank Checker, Keyword Tool, SeoBoook Rank Checker(Firefox Addon), KPMRS Seo Tools, etc...

Personally, I use the online service from semrush.com for this purpose though it would have some delay in update.

I think most of you missed the point. What I was asking about was instead of querying Google for search results, querying other search engines "backed by Google" so you wouldn't have to deal with Google.

Heck, I've recently found out it's even against their ToS to run automated queries against them.

Tools like Market Samurai do this and if I remember correctly you can use proxies with it, so that might be a solution.

Do you know offhand what search engine Market Samurai queries if not Google.com?

Aol and comcast are both queries that will work for what you are asking.
