Thread: Needing Ideas to Exploit the Competitions Weakness

Hi,

Fellow netbuilders I really need your help with this one.

I understand that content is king along with backlinks. My question deals with more then that.

I also know I am going be going up against some really big hitters with my new site. For me this is going to be a battle between David and Goliath.

I am hunting for the Achilles' heel.

Please, help me brainstorm.

How do you find weakness in your competitions site and turn that weakness into your benefit?

Good question. Start out by doing a SWOT analysis.

Another thing is that the Goliath may be too big and can't be bothered to handle the micro-niches.

What does SWOT analysis mean please? How do I do that what ever it is?

One technique is to post rapid responses to current news and ping it to the ping services.

So you could monitor Google trends and set up Google alerts for your keywords and then immediately respond with your own blog post after you get an alert maybe?

• Weakness
• Opportunities
• Threats

The data and information that you will get from such analysis will very helpful for you , somehow they will turn to be your marketing "skeleton" so based on those you can plan your very own marketing strategic

Thanks for the expiation of the acronym

Now I must ask how do I do this research? I'm not looking for their keywords or backlinks they have over 300,000 indexed pages. So that is the Strength. Opportunities I feel I have that covered. I really gotta find the Weakness. I never thought of the threats.

Can you give me an example of what a threat could be?

• Another weakness might be that they don't offer support with what they're doing, try offering support too.

A threat could be:

• His price is lower than yours
• He offer something special to his visitors that you can't offer
• ..

I see, This is going to be even harder then I thought in finding a weaknesses and threat. Gloomy....

Looks like all I have to hope for is the product will be the weakness and the strength. There's just gotta be something I'm missing. Your right they can offer something special that I can not for they have more money then me and are established.

Why don't you look for something for your visitors to give away? You should be able to find some stuff, in return the provider will get some free promotion so..

What's the niche of the site you're talking about?
