Thread: Is profile link building a black hat technique?

I am just wondering if profile link building is a black hat technique since we manually create links in multiple sites. Still, not sure. Has someone observed a decrease in rankings after doing profile link building?

Profile link building is regarded as spam. I have tested profile links and to be honest I didn't see a great deal of improvement in the SERPs. However, I feel this is a short term link building technique.

For thirty days straight, I built 10 to 15 profile links. At the end of the campaign, I did see the backlinks, but about two months down the road, all the links were gone. Out of the 400 links I built, only about 50 or so are valid now.

If you are going to invest time in building profile links, I wouldn't recommend it. There are much better SEO techniques that you can benefit from.

I've done similar tests and seen similar (lack of) results.

If you build profile links on forums?
Most admins/mods love to delete and ban when they find that stuff.
I cleaned out one forum and still do of people who build only profiles and never post or come back except to drop another link in their profile.

I had success with profile links. The problem with profile links is that you have to index them, because most of the profiles will not be indexed naturally by Google.

If you want good results, I suggest you to do not only profile links to your site, combine this technique with article marketing, forum posting (signature), and link wheel with web 2.0

Don't you think that such profile link building service will help you? I suppose that is something you can be banned for.

I have done my share of testing and from my results, I was very confident that profile link building has very minimal to no effect on the SERPs. However, you could try your own testing and see if it does work for you. If it does work for you, I would be very interested in seeing what you did to get positive results.

Profile linking is not BH because it's also abides forum rules.
