Often I come across marketing sites and find that they advertise for each other. They create huge link scheme and rank high.

Not only do they rank high but they provide poor contents or sometime no contents at all.

Is there someone that can explain why they rank so high if they provide a deceptive experience for visitors?

That's the power of SEO. In google, it doesn't guarantee that the top sites are the most reliable ones, they are the wiser ones. They rank high by ranking the keywords they used using backlinks. Backlinks or inlinks are the only thing that can rank a site. No more than that. Content is not a big issue in ranking a site.

I think Backlinks or In Links are important to your website’s performance in search engines but what are they and why do they work?


Backlinks are links to your site from other sites on the internet. Your website’s backlink profile shows the number of links and their potential value to your website.
It is important when creating links from other sites to your website to consider some of the following factors:

1. Linking from “splogs” or spam blogs, set up with duplicate content and hundreds of links won’t help you one bit
2. Using keywords as anchor text rather than the company name or URL can increase the reputation of your website in search engines – if you have done on your site, you should already by number 1 for your company name and URL.
3. Links from high quality websites will help you more than low quality sites and links from sites Google doesn’t even know about won’t help you at all.
4. Don’t just link build to the homepage of your site, links should go to relevant pages on the site for the keyword you are using as anchor text – for example if you run an online sports shop don’t link the Nike Women’s Trainers keyword to the homepage, link it to the Nike Women’s Trainers page – it’s the one that is most relevant to that keyword!
5. Don’t buy links – Google doesn’t approve of bought links and recommends against them in their web master Guidelines.

I think Google did something smart when the algo catch them, they just devalue the link to nada. Why not? It is very simple and very efficient.

Yeah, Site Marketing A link to Site Marketing B, then Site Marketing B link to Site Marketing C, etc

With the same description and titles from the big online store, at the end companies that can afford to pay huge compaign PPC on many marketing sites benefit from hundred links indexed by their duplicated titles, stacking one behind others on many Google pages for a single product
