I ran into the same problem.

I would not even mess with this as it is. If you want to use the articles just do a fresh install of WordPress, install the old site's database and cut-and-paste the articles from phpMyAdmin to the new WordPress site.

That's what I'm going to do, I've bought another domain name and I'm going to move all the posts from the other CMS to WordPress on the other domain. But before doing that I should be able to see the website so I know what to move and what not :(
