Thread: Shopping cart/Ecommerce application suggestions

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a shopping cart / ecommerce application. Opensource would be preferred. I was thinking of going with Drupal/Ubercart, but the more I think about it, the more I realize that the complexity of learning how to build a quality store in that setup, on top of everything else will probably just cause me to push off finishing the website.

I would appreciate any input.

We recently faced this same issue. I did a lot of research and found far more opinion than fact. It was very frustrating.

I considered Joomla and VirtueMart, but bypassed it due to worries about unnecessary complexity and poor performance.

I settled on oSCMax, a fork of osCommerce. ZenCart, another osCommerce fork, was a close second.

We also looked at Magento, but passed over it because of concerns regarding performance and maturity.

Then, almost unintentionally, we bought an eCommerce site built using PrestaShop. Our goal was to standardize on one platform and now we have two.

are you satisfied with prestashops performance? i waaanted to create a shop that somehow like this site tipidpc[dot]com and i dont konw which is which. thier forums board post are also displayed in their domain.
any idea?

We haven't started to promote SwordsCorner yet, so we don't really have performance data at this time.

That looks like custom software. It appears to be used only on TipidCP, CoolToyzPH, and Sulit.com.ph. They all appear to be owned by the same people.

Unfortunately, it's too soon to tell.

After a few months, I was wondering if you had any more thoughts on OSCMax. I've been putting off this site for far too long and finally getting everything in order to get it going.

We're in a similar situation. I started too many projects and this one slipped.
