Thread: Why you should post in your blog on a regular basis

Why you should post in your blog on a regular basis

So, I decided it might be a good idea not to post in my blog from March 1st to March 9th even though I had consistently been posting in my blog either every day or every other day.

    Guess what?

I saw a very nice drop in my traffic during the span of those days without posts. It wasn't immediate, but I did see a nice drop. I even had two people unsubscribe during the span!

So, what have I learned? I will never ever ever ever take a break from posting in my blog that lasts more than 3 days.

How often do you update your blog and have you seen similar things happen?

I have a few posts which get a lot of visitors, and the following days people tend to revisit to see what is next. My recommendation is to have a certain schedule. If people are into your stuff and are getting used to something new being up there every 3 days, then every 3 days should be when you update your blog next. It beats having a daily blog where most of your posts are not of interest to visitors and wind up turning off readers who would otherwise subscribe and show your blog to others.
I am also a writer for Serpholic Media. You can find some of my articles here: Serpholic Media Blog

    Well I am totally agree...

However my schedule is like once a week because I am giving away free stuff, and posting few tips every now and then. However people tend to focus more on tips than free stuff (maybe just for specific niche).

What I learn, as long as you have a fix schedule doesn't matter if it's everyday or once a week, you'll get visitors... funny thing is, I get more rss subscribers when I post once a week than when I post every 2 days...

    Cheers,

This reminds me not to make a blog. It is so time consuming. Especially if one is
    lazy, like me.

Well you could've known that before... if NetBuilders shows 0 new posts for 2 days, will you check back day 3? Maybe but it's not sure...

I'm a regular visitor of krimineel WebLog, jouw dagelijkse sleur breker but if they don't update every day (normally they do) than it's possible I won't visit their site for a while. PhoNuts Photoshop Tutorials - A passion to create the best free adobe photoshop tutorials available online. is the same, when they update regurarly the owner is seeing an increasement of traffic, but when there aren't new things posted every 2-3 days traffic is just dropping...

I'm trying to update my blogs (at the moment I have 2) at least once per 2 days.

I had the same experience with my blog. They traffic dropped on days I didn't post and even writing one article a day keeps your traffic sustained. I try to blog everyday but if for some reason, I cant, try to do it the other day. Never give a break if you are really serious about your website traffic

I have several blogs and this is my system for making sure that I post at regular intervals on them.
I have a week-in-view diary on my desk, and every time I post on one of my blogs I make a note of it, ie. the diary entry for 17th. March might read: 'posted on (name of blog) today.
It isn't a very high-tech solution but it does work!

  8. Wordpress allows you to schedule the release of blog posts. You can make a dozen blog posts in one long writing session and tell Wordpress to publish one a day for the next twelve days.

Or if you are lazy, and suck at writing, like me. You can hire someone to write you 30 quality articles, and publish one/day for the next month.
